Ancient Capital of Ayutthaya
Located 60kms north of Bangkok is the ruins of the city of Ayutthaya. Having been the capital of Siam from the fall of the Khmer Empire in the 14th century until its destruction in 1767 by the Burmese, it was a must-see region, to experience the history of Thailand. An hour train ride from Bangkok, and I was in the centre of its history.
