  1. Thanks for the tour. I couldn't handle that heat and humidity and would go out at night instead. I live in Southwestern Ontario Canada and I heard my first cicada of the summer tonight. They start appearing in the summer when the temps are high and it has been in the 90s lately. They do emerge from the ground and they shed their skins. When we were kids we would look for the empty shells. They are quite loud and they sing to each other looking for a mate and they are quite large for a bug. Nothing like a cockroach as Mazzy was thinking. I love when I see small birds chasing and trying to catch them. Some places in the USA are expecting trillions of cicadas to emerge this year. Have fun!

  2. Hi to both of you I just wanted to let you know that there is another archeological place to visit that is also amazing and really interesting. Archaeological Site of the Tombs of the Kings
In Pathos it’s really interesting and is where the people of Egypt used to go and bury their kings. Lots of information next to the ruins for to read too. It’s only £2.12 to enter, you can google it to see if you want to go. Love to you both, we love your blogs, you’re both great. ❤

  3. Oh, I sent this message before you went on to say about you not wanting to do it also I was going to mention the hop on hop off bus which Mazzy mentioned. Enjoy xx

  4. Hi Dan or Mazzy, sorry I’m late commenting on your video, you are competing with the Euros and more importantly for me, the World Cup of Darts I have a few suggestions for a holiday for you but would prefer to send it in private, I know you have put your email on a few of your videos but I have a memory like a sieve. Could you post it on here so I can contact you in private Nick

  5. Wow those mosaics are pretty incredible when you think how long it must have taken to put all those little pieces down to make up the patterns brilliant.

  6. Don’t miss the tombs of the Kings… fantastic archeological site. Doesn’t look much from above ground. It’s many years since we visited but hopefully still open to public. 👍🏻😊😊

  7. I visited Paphos dig twice over a couple of summers in the late 70s. The first time I did the normal entrance and tour. The next year I learned to go through the back door. When I was exiting out the entrance the guy asked us to pay. But we were leaving so we didnt. Back then it was much much smaller, and only took less than an hour to see it all. There has been much excavated over the last 46 years. Its a beautiful drive from Paphos to Limassol. Thanks for the memories.

  8. I think I read that in the US, there are 2 varieties of Cicada, one which appears every 13 years. The other every 17 years. This year I think both strains are due to appear.

Thank you for the tour of the ruins. While I would have liked to have seen more, I fully appreciate what you're not going back. Just looking at the heat is enough to drain my energy! Thanks again for all that you have shown 🙂

    Stay hydrated and take care!

  9. You mentioned the origin of the name Cyprus, apparently it's derived from the ancient name for copper, Cyprus was a major exporter of copper in ancient times and up until the 1960s with independence.
About snakes; there's only one venomous snake, the horned viper, the rest are harmless. And the black snake is not only non venomous but the "farmer's friend" as it kills rodents and venomous snakes.
There's a legend about how we ended up with so many cats, connected to Saint Helena.
    Thanks for a fun video.
I'm a local by the way, always like seeing what visitors see, through new eyes.

  10. Dan you’re right about the cicada. They live 10-12 years in ground as grubs then emerge, shed skin and become that ugly big flying bug. The sound is a mating call and that is the only thing they have left to live for. New cicadas eggs are deposited in ground to start cycle again. Great vlog. Hi Mazzy

  11. Guys loving this series so far. Fascinating place, amazing history. A bit behind but catching up! Watching most on tv so can’t comment a lot but great stuff so far!
