One of the most beautiful villages in France
Since 1981, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie has been classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Church, ramparts, chapels, aqueduct, fountains, alliances of water and stone, pastel tones of tiles and tuff shape a homogeneous and living architectural ensemble. The sweetness of life that emerges naturally encourages us to respect and value this place, to discover and protect it. Working the land, carried out for centuries, is the link between the history and the future of the village.

Today, Moustiers has around 700 inhabitants. The heart of its economy revolves around tourism and the earthenware tradition. The reception capacity in the municipality is significant. In addition to 750 campsites and a holiday village, 130 hotel rooms in the village center or on the outskirts, around twenty gîtes and guest rooms and more than 50 furnished accommodations, it is easy to discover the local wonders beyond ‘a stealthy crossing. The different services will satisfy all desires and all budgets.

On the commercial side, artists’ and craftsmen’s stalls sit alongside local services.

On the food side, around twenty restaurants satisfy gourmets and gourmands, lovers of refined gastronomy, brasseries or local cuisine.

Moustiers is also located on the territory of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence. This nature reserve, classified by UNESCO, extends over 60 communes in the Alpes de Haute-Provence department. Numerous natural and geological sites allow you to discover the last 300 million years of Earth history.

The village of Moustiers Sainte-Marie is, in my opinion, a must-see when coming to the region. Firstly, because this city is very close to the Gorges du Verdon (5-10 minutes by car). But above all because Moustiers Sainte-Marie has a lot of charm! The proof is that the village is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, a guarantee of quality.

I really had a good time visiting Moustiers, a typically Provençal town, nestled between two cliffs. Some people actually have the impression of seeing a nursery when they arrive in front of the village! Obviously, you will undoubtedly be captivated by the waterfall and the river which flows in the center of Moustiers Sainte-Marie, giving a very special atmosphere.
