Don’t Skip South Dakota

There is so much to see and do in South Dakota. This week we put down our bikes and explore Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore.

  1. Great video! I need to go back there. I took picture of my young kids in front of Crazy Horse and told them we'd come back in 20 years and see who changed more. I think it was them! It's funny when I tell people about Mt. Rushmore they don't think it would be fun, but it sure is a don't miss!

  2. Episode brought back memories with my companion, Koa Wood, who rode in the passenger seat of the Rolling Dog House. He was declared a Service Animal so he joined on the visit to Crazy Horse Museum and sunset at Mount Rushmore. The Black Hills are pinned for more time when the Missouri River – Mouth To Headwater at 3 Rivers Montana. Safe Journeys and thanks for sharing your adventures and Ice Cream stops.

  3. Agreed this is a great area. Probably my most underestimated destination. A full week is necessary with detours to Badlands & Devils Tower.❤

  4. Saved for 10 years & 1 year of planning for my 60th bday trip with my 10 year old grand. 7 days centrally based at Blue Belle in Custer State Park packing allowed in 1-2 activities each day traveling out each day on Wild Life Loop. Planning for seasonal job after retirement so I can meander to my heart & souls content – FINGERS CROSSED! That entire area has always felt like home to me🥰. Thanks for sharing❣️

  5. Speaking of ice cream… a few months ago, you asked for ice cream recommendations in San diego. I suggested Stella Jean's. In the meantime, USA Today rated Ahn's Dry Cleaning as number one ice cream in the nation. Don't bother. Skip the long line generated only by publicity. Stick with Stella Jean's if you ever get back this way.
BTW, I'm not affiliated with them other than being a customer. 😊

  6. We went to both Mountain Rushmore and Crazy Horse when out there last summer. Crazy Horse is definitely worth a stop. When we were there a lady was demonstrating hoop dancing. Also the history of the sculptor and his family and their lifelong dedication to this project.

  7. Been to SD a couple times, loved it, so beautiful, so much history, camped in Custer State Park, so much wildlife, so many good memories! Safe travels to y’all! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

  8. We were there this past May, staying at Custer Game Lodge campground. (Electric hookup only.) Very nice laundry, bath-house and restrooms. The museum in Custer is worth the visit. The Bison Roundup is streamed live on YT, and the PBS station does a good job of showing it. Also the fire lookout tower was an interesting place to get a bird's eye view of the whole area. Hope you take in the Minuteman Missile site just north of the east entrance to Badlands. Well worth the time to see and hear everything.

  9. Again, you folks have taken me to a place I'm not going to get to in person, Thanks. The filming was very professional & the narration an education its self.

  10. We spent a few days in this area, and I agree – a week would be good! Wow – you saw a lot of bison at Custer! I have video of the footsteps & how close the bison is too 😂 We got stuck behind a tour bus going in to one of the tunnels – a little creepy.

  11. Thanks for the video. Apologies if I missed it, but what is the status of your new van at Humble road?

Is this “Eastward Ho!” trip another chance to check out progress, or is it for final delivery?

How much has your “dream van” changed from inception to delivery?

And finally, what are you planning to do with your old van?

  12. Howdy, Pardon me for laughing, but I found it funny that you had to wait for the train at the particular RR crossing. Burlington Nothern was notorious for blocking the crossing on both ends of town with miles-long coal trains in the 1960s and 1970s. I graduated from Edgemont High School (class of '78) and was late many mornings for school due to those trains and no way around them unless you walked across the swinging bridge and through a tunnel under the tracks — I'm not sure if those are still there. This brings back a lot of memories. Thanks.😀

  13. Hellosie my favorite youtube adventures 🥰 Wow! South Dakota doesn't disappoint. My friend just got back from Manila, Utah and visited Mt. Rushmore, she said it was spectacular! Love Johns town visit, priorities "the bakery." 👐🍰👐 Thank you for a beautiful visit, especially the baby momma's & their babies 💕 so cute. Safe travels, Yvonne🥰

  14. Great video! I love the Black Hills and never tire of Custer state park. If you have the opportunity in the future, I suggest the Cathedral Spires hike. The hike is about 2 miles round trip with 500 ft of elevation. I’m a chunky 50 something lady and was able to do the hike with a few rest stops. The pay off was incredible views.

  15. Ice Cream Connoisseurs! Glad you found more places to add to your book rating Ice Cream shops along your journeys!🍦🍦…. Custer State Park is a treasure and love going and camping there….Friends cattle ranch is about 25 miles east of Hermosa.
