I heard that from september, 5 countries in Europe, among them Greece, will test the european vaccin pass. If so, a lot of people will not be able to enter Greece.
As a Dutchy i worked in a Greek restaurant for 10 years while going to school and after that because i loved working there. I have alot of greek friends and i go to Greece 🇬🇷 2/3 times a year for vacation the culture fits me better then the Dutch culture. I save alot of money and because the price of houses are threw the roof here i want to buy a vacation home in Greece and retire there early. Alot of Greek people come to the Netherlands to work so i feel like i can move to Greece to retire. You're videos are very informative and fun i never been to the peleponessos I'm gonna do a 3 week tour next year it looks like an amazing place to life. Keep up the good work!
you are exactly right, Daniel! I was born in Athens moved when I was 5; started my passport process with a Greek attorney three years ago; they pulled up my birth records baptismal records, mom and dads birth/wedding records my maternal grandparents records and we submitted my citizenship application in November 2023. Here we are almost August 2024 and the package is "still in process"…lol…gotta love the Greek bureaucracy !!

the grown-up confidence is pretty inspiring. yes, you can fall back to where you came from. you have plan b. and once you have some grey on your head, you always have plans b c, and d. but you are where you are and you want to be there. you're a happy man. good for you
I'm moving to Greece within 2 years. I've had this mindset since I was a child I've loved Greece and made it my life's goal to retire there. Unfortunately my spouse doesn't share my passion so it's added a level of complexity but I'll move on.
Good job of bringing up the Visa topic. I'm 2nd generation Greek born in the U.S. and my goal has been to get closer to my Mani roots. If I was younger, I'd want to live in the village of my papou and yiayia. Because of my age, the smart thing is to live where hospitals and health clinics are accessible. In May I traveled to Greece as a reconnaissance mission to confirm where I should live. Immediately after the trip I began the Visa Application process for a long-term visa. For me, the digital nomad visa seems to be the best approach. In October I will have my in-person interview with the Greek Consulate in Los Angeles. I'm nervous about it, wish me luck!
Great video, once again, thank you! Can you talk about how you found a place to live in Nafplio? Did your wife’s family help you? I’ve found that realtors in Greece are either not responsive or else want to sell/rent you whatever property they want to unload, not listening to what the customer wants. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I live in Los Angeles and I can’t picture myself living outside USA, just got back from Italy and I couldn’t wait to come back Los Angeles. I was in Italy for two weeks and I must say the Italian food in Los Angeles tests much better than the food in Italy. Never visit Italy during summer because it will be waste of money and time and don’t expect customer service like USA.
Love Greece!!!!
Parents from Corfu but we live in the USA.
Have a very nice villa in Corfu and have thought of making it an ABNB. That’s my dream!
Greasy bastards
Hi Daniel. I am happy to hear you are happy with your choice to live in Greece. The beach looks so beautiful. As a Greek living abroad, i know its not easy to migrate to a different country. Greece is a nice place to live, but I think if you have sorted the employment situation out first. I have worked in Athens and it was hard to rent a place with that money. I think every situation is unique but I think its good to be very well prepared. Enjoy and I like to see people enjoy where they live. Dimitra
I think this is the best channel. I live how you explain the pros and cons in a reasonable way.
I am 1st generation born American to Greek parents. I finally got my dual citizenship, but it to an act of congress.
I applied during the PASOK years through the Greek Consulate in Boston. I got everything they requested, I dotted my I's and crossed my T's. I did so much running around and 10+ years later I still didn't have my citizenship. I called numerous times over the years and nothing happened. They were useless. I thought I was never going to get my ταφτοτιτα. I gave up… And then one day 10+ years later I mentioned it to a Greek-American from church who spent her youth in Greece. She told me the people who work at the embassies are switched out when a new political party runs Greece and now with ND new people would be running the Boston consulate and that I should try again. It was news to me so I decided to give it a try. I called and she was right! A new lady was in charge and she was wonderful. She helped me so much. I made the appointment to meet with her and told her the whole situation. – I got a call back from her about two weeks later, I couldn't believe that this lady was so pleasant and professional in comparison to her PASOK predecessors. She told me she found all my paperwork and that she was going to begin processing it with the administration in Greece. I almost dropped to the floor. I think I had my citizenship two months later. I got it in the Fall of 2013. and now I have a beautiful tiny apartment in Athens as well. Hopefully, plan to buy a second home on an island if all goes well 😊
Hello my friend I love the videos you put on I wish I can come back to Greecei was born there I live and Canada now god. Blessed you have a wonderful day 🌹🙏
thank you for the video
I did a deep search and concluded, yes it is a good holiday destination but when it comes to living and day to day style, I do not think it is attractive to me.
I would like to move to Greece on the FIP visa, but I am terrrible at learning languages and this would be a huge stumbling block.
I am Greek and leave in Australia for 60 years,I miss Greece so must,I wish to leave there for the rest of my life!
Thanks for sharing this video with us
Great video Daniel.
I was honest with myself a few years ago (I’m 34 now). I cannot live in Greece as I am too far removed from the culture as I’ve grown up here in Ontario, Canada. The culture shock would ruin the experience and rebuilding my networks and lifestyle would be too much work (unfortunately). I had to stop living in dreamland. However, visiting is perfectly okay with me. I have the language down which helps as well. It wasn’t an easy thing to say to myself but unfortunately I just can’t do it (στην Ελλάδα). 😢
so true that you can live in other countries as you know yourself, you know your needs, your values, what’s important for you… and that’s a big deal … when you’re ready to embrace a country’s culture and have in your mind the pros & cons, you live a more full life and you thrive, along with your environment & the people around you… as a friend says : for me, for you, for us 💝🌟
Beautiful ❤
Well said Daniel. Greetings from my living-place Amsterdam. And a longtime, regular visitor to lovely authentic -and magical (in Dutch: betoverend) Greece.

@mygreeklifestyle – thanks for the videos! Don't know if you've made a video that specifically compares living in Canada vs Greece since you've lived in both those countries.I would love to see a side to side comparison of all the pros and cons. Thanks
I love Athens ❤ Ive been 3 times to Greece and the islands; considering to buy a small apartment in Athens. I enjoy the atmosphere of Monasteraki and Plaka and appreciate the ancient history. Also learning Greek now and finding it easy. Love this video 🙏
I knew it! You will be successful sharing this type of content. So excited about subscribing. I watched lots of your sync licensing and enjoyed most when you would show us Greece! You’re going to crush it!
Hi! I really like your videos very informative but you forgot to mention one thing form visas and that is European passport /citizen. You can live and work as a European citizen.
Haha, hi everyone,
Don't ask me if you should move to Greece i am one of these peeps that Daniel mentioned, unless you're financially stable, running your own business, or have a good inheritance or salary. In that case, absolutely yes—Greece is a paradise. But if you're planning to move without a solid plan or stable income, you'll struggle. The working environment in Greece is not like the UK or other European countries. The hospitality here is unique, but you have to get used to Greek rudeness on a daily basis.
Apart from that, if you manage to move with a plan like Daniel did, you will have a wonderful time. My place is more or less like Nafplio, just 30 minutes from Athens and 5 minutes walking from the sea. However, the sun didn't pay my bills, and the 550(back then)€750-950 salary per month while staying with my mom wasn't enough. The Greek community in the UK is nostalgic about Greece, but no one wants to come back without a plan. No one wants to return to a difficult situation.
I am working from home and actually my salary is superb i can also work from Greece for a month!!!
If i could have this salary in Greece i would been living like a king hahahah..
As i said..if you plan everything out you can live to Greece.. having real coffees, enjoying the sun all year long and the delicious greek food.
Also Well Daniel for acomplising your dreams !!!! And ofc convising your wife to come back to Greece!!I know is not that easy!!
If my parter was asking me to do that now !!i would have said NO WAY…
