Cuttlefish ink actually has a taste. It gives the dish that sweetness and umami flavor. It's a dish that everybody should try when in Croatia. Just make sure you pick a good seafood restaurant.
Maybe because only small portion of Croatia is the Balkan region, not the whole country. Hence the food difference.

Very cool! Been to Split a few times. Beautiful historic city especially the old town / palace. The restaurants along the waterfront serve superb seafood and the olive oil in Croatia is strong!! Food you both tried looked so yummy π

Matt, all I can is I am sooo glad you were open to trying the cuttlefish. Proud of you! And Iβm even happier that you liked it π It is one of my favorite dishes and I order whenever possible throughout the world. A few high end restaurants used to serve here in Los Angeles but havenβt seen on any menu post pandemic π’
