I live in Berlin and saying downtown sounds weird. This isn’t like a Californian city where you have rural like places with houses only and all the restaurants Bars. Shops are in ‘downtown’. Berlin is different. We have bars, restaurants clothing stores practically in every district , not just at Alexanderplatz.
Downtown is a term more suitable for American cities like San Diego and Los Angeles. But not German cities like Berlin.
