Canary Islands Island Driving Tour – Volcano and Lava Tubes

Today we tour the beautiful Canary Islands. We are doing a driving tour of the Canary Islands. We see some of the most spectacular views of the mountain tops, tour around the volcano as well as go exploring deep into the island’s lava tubes. The Canary Islands have the second largest network of lava tubes in the world. We also tour many of the island’s wonderful small towns and finish the day with an amazing Spanish dinner.

  1. Beautiful island! I recall the two 747s involved in a horrific accident at the airport in Tenerife where several hundred people died. I believe it was in the 70s or 80s.

  2. My husband and I here in the southern end of Western Australia are always so happy to get to do some vicarious living through your experiences. Thank you!

(P.S. I assume that Nancy either bought crochet patterns written as charts or didn’t feel it was worth getting into US vs. UK terminology since it’s easy enough to translate between the two. The avid crocheter in me can’t help but wonder if there’s a preferred style of pattern-writing in Tenerife; here in Oz it’s fairly evenly mixed. Perhaps when the cruise is over you will do a video of all of the crafts and other things made in this legendary voyage.l

  3. "Gelato" is Italian … "Helado" is Spanish. They "playground" for Europeans is Ibiza… not the Canary Islands. Although its quite popular to go there during the winter to escape to cold and many e.g. Swedes own an apartment or house in Spain (around Marbella or Alicante). There are too many tourists in Spain now that the locals are protesting heavily on the streets.

  4. How many countries will you visit in total? Are there other countries that you have been to outside this cruise? I had wanted to travel to all 199 countries but I am not going to make it. hugs

  5. Many years ago I visited both islands, one beautiful with lots of greenery and other was volcanic. The planet of the apes movie was filmed on the volcanic island

  6. Our family always visited the lava tubes at Mt Lassen in California on our summer vacations. No tour guides, just take your flashlights and a jacket. As kids it was great.

  7. Loved seeing your adventures in Tenerife. We chose a transatlantic cruise several years ago specifically because Tenerife and Las Palmas in the Canary Islands were on the itinerary, and loved touring both islands. Keep having wonderful adventures, and thank you for your wonderful videos!🛳️🛳️

  8. We love the Canaries go there at Christmas tíme ór during the winter pity you didnt show one of the resorts.Thís a holiday destination for people tó get some sun. You didnt get tó see Mount Téide the volcano.

  9. Of all your travels, could you summarize of all the place you went to, that you would go back and visit. I have been following you from the beginning, but I gotten lost to where you would go back too. I have really enjoyed being apart of your travels. Thx.

Nancy I don't know you. but I feel like I do just watching your videos. I think if we met in person we would become friends. You are the best. Of course your husband is to.

  12. For us ,Scandinavians, Canary Island is the closets to warmth during winter. From Sweden it is a approx. 5 hours flight. Retired people often spend winter in the Islands. But i guess you meet them in the all inclusive rather than in the caves 😂

  13. During my time in the Canaria Islands, I learned how Spain invaded the land and did its best to eliminate the indigenous population, which is why many carry resentment for Spain to this day. It is thought that the indigenous people were from Africa, and they might have been the rebellious folks who had been dumped there to get rid of them. Their orgin story says they were birds who had flown there, so there is still much mystery about them. On my April 2023 cruise ŵe went to 3 ports and were in this port on Good Friday so we saw a parade and the church during the "Best of Tenerife" tour which included the village of La Orotava and Las Canadas del Teide National Park.
