🌅 Walking in Cagliari ITALY 🇮🇹 ✨ [4K] | August 2024

Walking through Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, in August reveals a city full of history, charm, and vibrant summer energy. The old town, particularly the Castello district, sits atop a hill with commanding views of the Gulf of Cagliari and the shimmering Mediterranean beyond. The streets are narrow and winding, flanked by centuries-old buildings with faded facades in warm tones of ochre, pink, and cream.

The summer heat is intense, typical of the Mediterranean, but the stone buildings and shaded alleys provide some relief. As you stroll, you’ll come across landmarks like the Bastione di Saint Remy, a grand terrace with sweeping views of the city below. The Cathedral of Santa Maria, with its baroque interior, stands proudly at the heart of Castello.

In August, the streets are animated with locals and tourists enjoying the long, sun-soaked days. Cafés spill onto the sidewalks, where you can savor a refreshing mirto liqueur or a plate of culurgiones, a traditional Sardinian pasta. The air carries the scent of the sea mixed with hints of rosemary and wild herbs, characteristic of Sardinia’s landscape.

Further down, in districts like Marina and Stampace, the atmosphere is lively, with open-air markets, artisan shops, and small trattorias offering delicious Sardinian dishes. Evenings bring a cooler breeze, and the city’s piazzas fill with people enjoying the vibrant nightlife. The sounds of live music and laughter echo through the streets, making a summer evening in Cagliari an unforgettable experience.

P.S. This is my third time visiting Sardinia.

I do love this island but it was too hot too hot 🥵 this time around. You can do staff in the morning and evening the rest of the day you in some kind of survival dream mode.

And still cannot wait to go back one day and explore old town more…
