Cape Breton, Nova Scotia: Forts, Fiddles, and Stormy Seas!
Hey everyone! Welcome to our latest adventure in Nova Scotia! 🚐🌊
Our first stop was to catch some massive waves from a storm down a very wet off road trail, then we headed down to the historic town of Louisbourg. The fortress there was incredible—complete with a moat, drawbridge, and live music from all around the world! 🎻🥁 We learned so much about the area’s history and even saw a giant LEGO model of the fort!
From there, we ventured onto the famous Cabot Trail. It’s a stunning drive with lots of twists, turns, and beautiful views. We stopped for some delicious chocolate and dove deep into the local culture, checking out Gaelic music and dance along the way.
We also had the chance to visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, where we discovered more about his incredible inventions beyond just the telephone. 🛠️📞
The trip has been filled with music, history, and breathtaking scenery. And we wrapped it up with some step dancing and even a quick fiddle lesson at the Celtic Music Interpretation Center. We’ve loved every minute here, and we hope you enjoy following along on our journey! 🎶

I would have never made it down that watery road. I am just too scared of what you can’t see.
about 40 years ago I was at ft louisburg, and I recognize the entrance, it was cloudy and some rain the day I was there, sorry to see it has not changed(the weather I mean).
We visited the fort last year from a cruise stop on the way to Greenland. Rented a car and got about 5 hours there, saw most of it. The Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site is also a good place to visit.
We’re we’re there in 2016 and headed back for 2025! 🇨🇦 thanks folks. Loved the music on Cape Breton and also definitely the Bell exhibit.
I grew up about 20 miles from the Bell Homestead in Brantford Ontario which is another interesting site to visit. I also work at a historic private boarding school in Southern Ontario. One of our graduates was Casey Baldwin. Casey Baldwin worked for A G Bell as his chief test pilot and was one of the first to fly Bell's Silver Dart ( Canada's first airplane ). Like AG Bell and Glen Curtiss, Casey was also a founding member of the EAA and later went on to work for Curtiss Wright Aircraft Corporation running their Canadian operations during WW1 when they produced trainer aircraft and pilots for the RFC

My family is from south Louisiana. Ancestors from that part of Canada. So wonderful to hear the music, the nexus of Cajun music. Many family members played accordion and fiddle. Love Canada and Love your content.
We’ve spent two summers on Cape Breton, and are so excited that you got to experience the wonder of one of our favourite places on the planet. The music is just amazing and we would probably live there if it wasn’t so cold in the winter. 😁

The parking lot at 29:39 is where you get the best sunsets and photos of the park. Too bad it was raining. Some great memories at that spot.

Hey! Have watched the last 2 episodes in a row so I think the fudge was in the previous episode but….if you are craving fudge, a quick fudge is to take a tub of ready made frosting & a bag of chocolate chips, microwave for about 1.5 mins in 30 second bursts stirring in between. Then for ease, put in an pan 8×8 works well, lined with foil and sprayed lightly or butter so it doesn't stick. Put mixture in and let it harden in the fridge. You could do it in a pan too I'm sure, just til the chips are melted. Mix it up. Chocolate icing with peanut butter chips. Chocolate icing with chocolate chips melted then fold in mini marshmallows and broken up graham crackers for smores kind. Not as good as real fudge but its a hit camping!
