Sailing to beautiful remote anchorages and exploring small Mediterranean towns has been our MO for the past couple of months as we’ve island hopped our way through much of Turkey and Greece. But after our recent 48 hour offshore passage up the Adriatic to Montenegro, we’re now hunkered down in Porto Montenegro Marina, which is the perfect place for us to experience a bit of luxury for a change among one of the most stunning landscapes in the Mediterranean.

But Montenegro is just one part of a fascinating region. The countries that made up the former Yugoslavia have a unique and complicated history. They’re ethnically, linguistically, and culturally very distinct from the rest of Europe. And the story of the rise and fall of Yugoslavia highlights the incredible power that uniting diverse human groups can create as well as the awful conflicts that can follow when that unity breaks down.

So this week we get to experience some of that history first hand, we get to try some traditional cuisine, and we explore the region via powerboat to discover some of the fascinating legends that make this country so intriguing.

  1. Wow! The instability of night is what would stop me from this lifestyle. Every sailing YouTubers, the current can change and you have to react. Us landdwellers enjoy going to sleep knowing 98% chance of not being disturbed apart from fire police trucks. Also, the night watch without support/crew seems so hard then add 2 little ones would be brutal. Maybe if you had a Catamaran with at least 1 crew to help and separate quarters for the family. Love your story telling and video skills. Maybe try land glamping. There is more stability. Return home often. Take the video and make beautiful coffee table travel books. Above all protect and enjoy your family, they are the most important beyond us YouTubers. Jordan can share how he got rid of an ant invasion and make it entertaining. Blessings😊🎉❤

  2. Please don’t make any rash decisions. Take your time. Take a few months off if needed. You have built a very successful channel and have a lot of people that care about you!

  3. I think you dont have to give up living on a boat and going for a sail. Maybe you should not cross oceans in the future. There are many places to explore on a long weekend. You can still do the maintenance which everybody like to watch and the little girl can grow up having normal kindergarten and school system. Danger is reduced but risk will always be there. A shore or on land, it does not change. If you need a good owner for atticus 2, let me know. 🙂

  4. On some older small subs the torpedo crew would draw lots to see who got the prefered sea birth ..in the tubes.

Diesel electric Hybrid power goes all the way to before WW1 on land further.

    The effects of the Ottoman
Turkish empire also contributed to the volatility of the region through to the 1st ww.

  5. I've been watching you guys from very nearly the start of your channel and I've loved every step of the journey. Although we are strangers, I feel like you are my friends, as you've let us into so much of your lives. So as a friend, I wanna say, I would miss your sailing vlogs dearly, if you decide to move ashore, but I would also totally support that decision if you believe that's what's best for your family.
In reality though, it doesn't matter what any of US think, your family is the most important thing, so the decision is entirely yours. ❤😊

  6. Do not be swayed by whatever your viewers say about staying on your boat or leaving it behind. This is such a deep, personal decision that only you two know what is best for your growing family. It just doesn't matter what other people think. It's your family that only you can make the decision.
I wish you unstressful decision making because I know they can feel overwhelming.
And no matter your decision you come to, thank you for taking us along your journey.

  7. Wow I’m going to miss you guys so much, but, you’ve got to do what’s best for you and your little family. It’s amazing what you have managed to do over the years, and particularly since Isabella came along. You’ve opened up so much to me, taught me a lot, and not just about sailing either. You’re a beautiful family and I wish you the very best whatever your decision is. Little Isabella, well she is just a beauty, and that smile! 😍 Onwards and upwards, and thanks for such a fantastic history lesson on that part of Europe that I didn’t understand very well before, Hugs to you.

  8. Omg, that dinner looked divine!! What a beautiful destination. For years, I have truly loved following your sailing journey. The highs, the lows and everything in between. While it would make me a little sad if you were to choose land life, at least for a while, I would completely understand if you did. For all of the wonderful pros to living this lifestyle, I can honestly see how challenging it can be, especially with young children. That said, it's not just the sailing that I've grown to love about your channel. It's who you are as people. I, for one, would follow your journey no matter where it leads. In the end, I know you will do what's best for you and I support you 100%! Sending much love ❤

  9. As sad as it will be to eventually see you go, you got to do what you got to do and what you got to do is what is best for your family in the long run.
We will still have Dan & Kika to watch, at least for some forseable future.

  10. I have watched you from the beginning! Whatever you both decide it is met with great respect for both of you! I loved at the beginning when you would also have the big guy on and other family!
I'm not sure what your Faith is but I will pray for the three of you and Osso! Go with your heart, have no regrets. Family is Everything! I'm glad you are willing to talk it out together! We don't know each other, but I feel like you both are family and I love you all!
