Our visit starts in Piatra Neamt, a city that preserves a Royal Court from the 15th century. This historical Royal Court is part of the current town center, serving as an attraction for both locals and tourists. Piatra-Neamt is also the birthplace of the surrealist painter and sculptor Victor Brauner (1903-1966), the photographer Adolphe A. Chevallier (1881-1963), and the avant-garde writer, publicist, businessman, and philanthropist Avram Leib Zissu (1888-1956).
Vom trece pe lângă the Pângărati lake, an important stopover for many migrating birds, thanks to the rich food that its waters provide. It also plays a vital role in maintaining the natural habitat, including plants, fish, birds, and small animals. Many species of birds can be seen on the surface of the water, but the most well-known are certain species of ducks, swans and silver seagulls.
Bicaz is a small town in Romania situated in the Carpathian Mountains near the confluence of the Bicaz and Bistrița rivers and near Bicaz Lake, an artificial lake formed by the Bicaz Dam on the Bistrița river. Before the construction of the dam (1950–1960) the settlement was just a mountain village where the main economic activity was timber harvesting. By tradition, the tree trunks were linked together to form a raft, which a raftman used to steer downstream on the Bistrița River to wood processing facilities. The town is located in the proximity of two important tourist destinations in Romania: the Ceahlău Massif and the Cheile Bicazului-Hășmaș National Park. The impressive Bicaz Dam built on the Bistrița river, one of the biggest in Romania, and the resulting Bicaz Lake are also popular tourist sights.
