Poiana Brasov, Romania (part 4) – Cable car ride to Postavarul peak, magic landscapes
At 00.29, 2.30 and 3.04 you can see the water storage, at an altitude of 1500 meters and with a capacity of 140.000 cubic meters, from which the snow cannons are fed. Amazing!
I made this series of videos about Poiana Brasov especially for our dear friend Benek, who likes very much to travel… but only virtually!!! ๐Ÿ˜Š
So, let’s go to #PoianaBrasov ๐ŸŒฒ
Poiana Brasov is one of the most pristine and well preserved mountain areas in Eastern Europe and the biggest and most luxurious mountain resort in Romania.
Leaning on a plateau at the base of Mount Postavarul (which is part of the Meridional Carpathian Mountains) and located only 12 km away from the medieval Transylvanian city of Brasov and at over 1020 m altitude, Poiana Brasov is a model of beauty, an oasis of tranquility and charming landscapes in all seasons.
Poiana Brasov is surrounded by 4 large mountain massifs:
Postavarul (1799m), Piatra Craiului (2238m), Bucegi (2505m) and Piatra Mare (1848m).
Poiana Braศ™ov has a temperate-continental climate, with mild summers and snow for about 120 days a year.
It has 11 lift systems (gondola, cable cars, chairlifts, ski lifts) and 7 main ski and snowboard slopes (which also have snow cannons).
In 2013, it hosted figure skating, alpine skiing and short track in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival.
Recorded in early spring, during our trip to Transylvania, four years ago. Unfortunately, this year, the very day we went to Poiana, no cable car worked, ehh…
But, imagine the beauty of all these evergreen trees!
And imagine the beauty of these amazing landscapes when they are covered by snow or when everything is green!
