I Went To The Most Hated, Unsafe City In Europe (#192)

If you’re from the Americas, it’s hard to find anywhere in Europe that’s not worth a visit. Sure, London and Paris might have a few rough spots, but on the whole the continent is way more organized, clean and safe than most other places.

Unfortunately, the capital of Europe seems to want to buck that trend. It truly is a unique city: one divided between two languages and peoples. It’s dirty, not particularly nice looking, and dangerous–right in the heart of the city.

Welcome to Brussels and Belgium. This wasn’t what I expected.

  1. No wonder they make the beers there so strong.

This is stop #5 on the trip across Eurasia to the Pacific. Still haven't left the Atlantic but we're about to pick up the pace..

  2. France and Belgium hope to turn the whole of Europe into this graffiti ridden land of multiculturalism. Inflatables readily available for the English Channel crossing and probably being helped towed northwards aswell. And if you don’t agree you’ll be labelled a f*.cist.

  3. Taking sides over Serbia and the assassination of Ferdinand France/Belgium,Britain, Italy, Russia and….US vs Germany, Austria/ Hungary ,Turkey (some other countries lol)

  4. This is absurd. You have zero knowledge, you speak neither French nor Flemish, this is your first visit to this fine city and you totally trash it. Your ignorance and disdain is stunning. Go home, please.

  5. There are THREE languagesFrench , French German. And Brussels is not so bad. Brussels is officially biligual. And sure there are bad places in Brussels, like NY, London, Paris. But there are beautiful places. And we have lots of green places. And what you see as a homeless person is often drug addicts, alcholics, plus we have a Roma population that beg as part of their culture. We have a social system(albeit not perfect)) to take care of each other. So, if you have need of assistance, it''s available. Are you really from NY? I live here and go out anytime of the evening.

  6. I am very impressed by your language skills! Your videos are very informative and interesting. I hope you are planning to visit some East European countries, they have changed a lot in recent years and I would like to see what you think, Wishing you all the best 😊🍀

  7. You must be kidding me, Brussels? Been there several times and walk around everywhere as a tourist including those areas around the Gare where you started your video and never had a problem. So many nice and calm neighbourhoods and incredible human diversity. Yes it can be a bit boring as well but I love that city

  8. Well if you are from America you shouldn't be suprised of Europe haha why don't you compare both metro New York – Bruxelles ? ah and we have no fentanyle here

  9. @Sabbatical Tommy used to visit Brussels often in the 90’s when friends studied there. Beautiful city. I went there seven years ago with my sons and it was already starting to look like Beirut and now it is a muslim immigrant infested dumb. #notmyeucapital

  10. Born in Brussels, but not a big fan of the place. It’s not all bad but yes some places are becoming unliveable. Crime, homeless people, refugees. It’s getting out of hand. Still there are many redeeming qualities. You just have to know where to go. But like any city there is a predatory element. Especially around tourist hotspots and public transport hubs. A shame really.

  11. I was in Brussels in 2010, chilling and drinking beer in a park. There were two muslim guys with British accents, huge beards and those long pakistani pyjama shirt looking things, talking in English about weapons and hand-to-hand combat and self defense. I went to drink elsewhere as it was a little weird.
When I left the park, this squad of cops with body arnour and dogs swarmed in to the park …seemed like something was going down. Always wondered if those two were implicated or not.

  12. As a Belgian who went to school in Brussels I got mugged there twice. Brussels is basically becoming African / Arab. The rest of Europe will follow. Europe will become Africa / islamic. Even without additional migration, the birthrates will make it so.

  13. Belgium has become a hole because its imperialist days are long gone and the free income has come to an end, hence the wonderful architecture from its past and nothing since.

  14. Unbearable watch. How you talk about my city without even having a proper experience there. A sarcastic, kind of disrespectful tone. Judging a place by its cover, instead of going fully into it. Experience it with a local, go to a hostel, get to know people instead of sitting all grumpy in your hotel room. People make a place, as well. Is there even a “most hated city”? Every experience is different and rather personal. If you approach a city like you do, every place would indeed suck.

  15. If you find yourself in some of the larger cities in Europe, avoid taking a hotel in the vicinity of train stations, which are typically the most sketchy areas of the city… Brussels is a collection of villages, that each have their own vibes and positives and negatives, but they’re clearly better than the station neighborhoods. Brussels, like for instance San Francisco, is also dealing with the usual challenges of well meaning but poorly designed policies for homelessness and immigration – it takes time and effort and adjustments to sort those out. In short, use your brain and some preliminary research and planning before you visit, unless your focus is to find the most screwed up areas. 🤷🏻‍♂️
