How high-tech AIRPLANE SEATS are manufactured in Germany… | Behind the scenes at RECARO!
Airplane seats are a lot more complex than they appear. Balancing the opposing desires for light-weight, low-cost, and high comfort has resulted in plenty of clever innovations you might have never thought about… I made my way to Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, to take you along a tour of Recaro’s main factory.

Sehr interessant
That’s awesome, great video David!😸
I did not expect Recaro to be the manufacturer of airplane seats, huh.
this reminds me of a video that talks about seat refurbishments and all the nasty things you can find when disassembling and cleaning those seats.
What an interesting video! Thank you for providing the insights to the aviation industry! 🤗🤗🤗
Particularly great editing on this one! I'm really impressed by the compilation of footage to tell the story of this engineering process, and for your careful blurring of proprietary info.
Thank you! That is absolutely interesting! I really admire the development of the seats and the intelligence behind the scenes!
Always happy landing wishes Joerg
I like seeing videos about aspects of air travel beyond trip reports! ✈️✅
Very interesting
this is not the content I am looking in this channel
Super cool stuff
Fascinating alternative to your usual trip reviews
I like starlux
Nicely done David!
imagine walking into someone's living room and they have recaro premium economy seats
Amazing
Didn't they file for bankruptcy in July 2024??
As a German I am surprised by how bad their English is, especially for a company in the aviation sector. Great video and insights though!
👍
As someone whose tushie spends a lot of time in airplane seats, this was fascinating! Thanks!
I want to say thank you for being so incredibly transparent whenever you collaborate with a company, thanks for all the details you provide in the description as well. This is how everyone should do it.
Nice video
45 seconds in and this is already one of my all time favourite Simply Aviation videos.
Most importantly, they must be highly fart resistant.
the nicest part about this, is to see Lufthansa getting proper screens finally 😀 yay!
Sebastian, cooler Typ, cooles Shirt 😉 War das für das Video oder trägt man die sonst auch?
I just like your reviews and insights. Whether these are airline reviews (in my opinion the best out there) or inisght behind the scenes like this one. Thank you!
I'd rather have a cushioned seat without screens and outlets like they used to offer than the ironing boards they offer today.
👍
Great video, just perfect. Thank you for all the insights!,
dude, great video! But does RECARO have a Gender Equality Plan??? Not a good look.
Thank you very much now how do you do to sit in the window just tell me thank you
There are thousands of parts in an aeroplane, however the seat is the part that I have all my interaction with. My longest flight was 15 hours Sydney to Dallas so I am very intimate with aircraft seats & the comfort level are very important.
🇩🇪👍
When will they make the seat cushions thicker? It seems that the seat cushions always feel flat and become uncomfortable after several hours. It’s fine for a 3 to 4 hour flight. But 6 hours or longer, my ass is so sore. 😅
I flew on Japan Airlines from Honolulu to Kansai on their B787 that has their “SkyWider” economy seats. The leg room is fantastic, the seat width is fantastic, the material is fantastic. The seat configuration on is a two four two configuration which make it easy for window passengers to get out vs the three three three layout. The only issue is the seat cushion. 6 hours in the flight my rear was hurting and I had 3 hours to go. 😩
Cool, surprised that Recaro is German brand, knew this brand first from car seats. At least i know Indigo uses recaro seats for their a320s
For ten thousand dollars they should put more padding in them and make them a little bit bigger than what they currently are.
Not just anyone can make an unsortable seat.
A fantastic video, thanks for the effort in getting this done
Cool factory visit.
But it would have been nice to learn a little more about the seats rather than just the company.
I wonder how they design for LCC seat
German manufacturing is always top notch
In Spanish Recaro means : very expensive.
If the garden chairs in the Austrian A320 are also from RECARO, then you have absolutely no reason to be proud of them. They are a horror.
Still miss the nice foamy seats from years ago new seats now feel like there just thin cardboard and made out of cheap plastic
It takes a particular skill to design seats that are both costly and uncomfortable at the same time. It almost feels as if companies like Recaro and other manufacturers are on a mission to make air travel more unpleasant than ever.
💺
Nicely done. Kudos to Recaro for opening their doors.
When almost everybody has a phone or iPad, why have screens in seats
