    I arrived in Poole under the cover of darkness. Boy was I surprised by the harbour here when the sun came up the next morning! A bit of a relaxed wander this one, I hope you enjoy the video 🙂

    WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
    I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
    WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
    Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up (in which case, likely to be Tuesday at 5pm)
    WHY IS THERE A DELAY BETWEEN TRIP AND VIDEO APPEARING?
    This is both my business model and a result of doing everything myself. Editing takes time and I also like to schedule videos a bit in advance in case of any problems/illness/cancellations etc. Keeping my uploads appearing every Saturday is important to me, so I don’t want anything to get in the way of it. Also, I occasionally need some time off to recover from trips! But more than anything else, it’s about budgets. I generally need to film a number of videos on each trip to break even. And each one of these take a while to fall into place on a Saturday morning.
    WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
    I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc. I also have a DJI Pocket 3 (bigger sensor) for nighttime, although I’m still getting to grips with it.
    WHY DON’T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
    The usual suspects I’m afraid – time and money! Hotel prices especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman. Also my weekly upload schedule means I need to keep on the move.
    WHERE’S ALICJA?
    Alicja will feature whenever possible, but she has her own life and a 9-5 job so it can take a while for our schedules to match up. Trust me though, I prefer it when She is there too!
    DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
    Yes I do. I’ve only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
    WHY THE ADS?
    It’s my income, I can’t do this for free. Notice I don’t have mid-roll ads though!
    CAN I CONTACT YOU?
    I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
    HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
    Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you’d like to support further, I’ll pop links in here for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
    DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
    I don’t like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don’t even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I’m open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don’t want to get into talking about products, it’s something I don’t like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for YouTube Premium). So it’s probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

      Hi Steve, love watching your videos, so interesting and informative. I think I may have visited Poole as a teenager in the 70's- will have to rack my brains!!
      What was the b&b called you stayed in, was it comfortable?

      Great to see you in Poole. I've lived in Poole and Bournemouth for over 30 years and love the place. So many memories in your video. Lots of great nights watching live music in the quay-side pubs, great fish and chip lunches. My daughters went to Brownsea Island with the Brownies and Guides. I worked for a company on the Quay nearly 30 years ago and they had a test lab in the building @6:20 where they had a RF shielded chamber

      The super yachts……. I’ve done a commissioning assignment on a mega yacht. That’s “something else”. That was “restricted access” to all areas except the engine control room, the engine room the switchboards, and the Bridge . It looked lovely on the outside though – longer than the Royal Yacht Brittania at 133m. The engineers rooms were just like that onboard any other ship, but the bridge was “something else”.

      Just reading Poole harbour is what they call a 'Ria' a drowned valley that happened at the end of the last ice age,
      climate change was happening long before we were burning diesel!!
      Looks an interesting place to visit.

      Well, that was fun – we have just come back from a great van trip to Scotland (partly inspired by your videos – Great Cumbrae was lovely and the sun shone 😉 ) to find that you were wandering near our part of the world just before we left!

      Thanks Steve for another great video showing regional interest. It is very interesting regarding the RNLI college and lifeboat museum. Love the old pubs. it would be great to see more history on them.

      I'm in East Devon next door to Dorset. We often travel to Poole. It's a lovely place. I think they also build the lifeboats in Poole in addition to the Sunseeker super yachts.

      Scott & Steve, Why don't you both team up and approach (for example) P&O Cruises. They regularly invite guest speakers onboard (free board and lodgings on a 4-7 day gig, but no pay). You two could show some excerpts from your travels and hold a couple of presentations together with a Q&A session in one of the ship's venues. With your already sizeable follower base, this would be hugely popular for both yourselves and the cruise ship passengers. No kidding, lots of much less interesting speakers invite themselves onboard. Give it some serious thought…let me know if you decide to do this, I for one would buy a cruise to see you two in action!       I rally like your you tube channel, it is allways interesting to hear about your travel.

      But it would have been funn if you culd have been fun if you would have been more funn if you would try to visit maybe the North part of norway an not yest the North part of sweden and hear what you think of the North part of Norway too it would have been interesting to hear abput and see and maybe visit one of the popular icehotells.😀😀

      I live in Canada but have siblings in Yorkshire and Northern France near Cherbourg. Was thinking I could take the chunnel and see both of them but now I'm thinking that going to Poole and taking a ferry would be a lot more fun. Thanks for some food for thought. Lovely video, as always

      The race yacht Medallia is Pip Hare's ride around the world via The Southern Ocean in December's Vendee Globe IMOCA 60 race. Go Go Pip! So exciting following the race, boats & yachts mem/women on the tracker come the time.
