  1. While Singapore can be a very expensive place, you can actually find cheap and good food, including coffee, at Singapore's Hawker Centres. Examples of hawker centres include Maxwell Food Centre, Chinatown Complex Food Centre, People's Park Food Centre, Old Airport Road Food Centre and Tiong Bahru Market. At these hawker centres, you can find delicious food for around S$4 (~US$3) and coffee for around S$1.20 (US$0.92).

Refrain from going to expensive fancy cafes and dining establishments in malls, as the higher prices are due to the higher rental costs that these establishments have to pay.

  2. At 23:49, you can actually see 2 big red umbrellas that says 'Walls'.That is actually an ice-cream seller. The ice-cream seller operates from a stall that is the sidecar of a motorcycle. This is a common sight in Singapore. There are also ice-cream sellers in Singapore that operate from a regular van, but the van is typically unmarked with no decorations. The only way to know if it is the ice-cream van is if you hear a loud ringing sound from a handbell rung by the ice-cream seller.

  3. At 28:21, I noticed that you took a fork and a spoon with your meal, but you picked up all the food in the plate with just a fork. So I have a challenge for you. The challenge is to try eating all the rice dishes with a fork and a spoon together. Use the fork to push the rice into the spoon and bring the spoon of rice to your mouth. If you need to cut the meat into smaller pieces, hold down the meat with the fork and use the spoon as a knife to cut it into smaller pieces. You will soon find out that it is much easier to eat rice dishes with a spoon instead of a fork.

  4. Myers, you mentioned that singapore got kicked out of Malaysia for some reason…that reason was because Lee Kuan Yew (your pronounciation is right on!) disagreed with the Malaysian parliament to have a Malay Malaysia; he advocated for a Malaysia irrespective of race. The Malaysian Parliament wanted to give Malay race priority over other races that lived in Malaysia (Chinese, Indians, etc). The malaysian parliament was upset with his views and they considered him a threat so they decided to kick Sibgapore out of Malaysia.

  5. My German friend came to Singapore and saw the foreigners picnicking all over the place and he was so shocked and thought Singapore has a migrant crisis 😂

  6. Forced QR code scanning = makes it the sacred duty of every upper middle class and upper class person to destabilize their economy and make them poor

Forced QR code scanning in the airport, electronics shop, Restaurants, casino

  7. Just a tip, if you’re moving out to the residential neighbourhoods, you will be hard pressed to find western style coffee. If you need a coffee fix and you come by a local coffeeshop we call kopitiam, or a hot drink stall at a hawker centre, only nanyang style coffee will be available. Order Kopi Gau. Kopi for milk coffee, Gau for thick coffee. If you want black coffee, it’s Kopi O which comes with sugar. If you want less sugar, you can say Kopi Siu Dai. No sugar, you say Kosong which is Malay for empty. A local coffeeshop is a lot cheaper than Yakun Kaya Toast, Toast Box or Killiney Kopitiam which are franchises. Although if you are keen on trying out the local traditional breakfast, check out Yakun. The soft boil eggs, toast with butter and egg and coconut milk curd (we call it kaya, Malay for rich) and local coffee is our comfort food.

  8. Is Singapore Still Worth The Travel ? The Answer is 'No' . if you are hungry, common Food are 'expensive' !….unless you want to waste money…..i strongly recommend you travel to New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan .

  9. Since you’re at Bras Basah, you have to check out Arab Street. Halal food options are so much more there. You have to try Malay food. All Malay food in Singapore is Muslim and halal. Around your area, there are also Muslim eateries out in the shop lots facing the streets, very delicious.

Funan Mall was an IT mall, maybe that explains the space tech design. The cheaper place for IT is Sim Lim Square but it can be seedy if you’re not savvy. You actually walked past our National Library which is famed for its eco friendly architecture. The museums are all located within that central town area where you’ve been walking. That’s also where the heritage Armenian Church and Jewish Synagogues are, testament to the cosmopolitan nature of old Singapore at the foot of Fort Canning Hill. There’s a lot to see if you like history. If you’re into spooks and stuff like that, there is a weekend supernatural cum heritage tour that brings you to Fort Canning or Changi. Check them out at Supernatural Confessions. The founders are regular Singaporeans with lots of stories to tell. You’ll get a lot more connecting with them than from transient interactions on the streets.

  10. Assalam my Bro Myers….you can try places like Haig Road or Geylang Serai, or Bussorah Street where Kampong Glam Cafe and Sultan Mosque is….pretty decent price for Muslim food…

  11. You feel tired because of the heat. Find shade and hydrate often.
And please don't leave your mobile phone on the table. It's safe but like our police always says low crime doesn't mean no crime😅
And we've a solid coffee culture here.
Even as a local Chinese, ordering coffee (kopi) at the local coffee shops is almost impossible for me because there are just so many types and you've to order in the Hokkein dialect. Get immersed.
Yes, our dearest Mr Lee Kuan Yew is the Founding Father of modern Singapore. He cried when we were kicked out of Malaya because we were doomed. We have no natural resources. Even water had to be imported. It's a sink or swim situation. And he and his colleagues had to bear the burden upon their shoulders. And he ran Singapore with an iron fist – extremely strict. He had to because it's all about survival. We owe everything we've today to him as he led many capable colleagues who helped build Singapore. His 10th death anniversary is coming in 5 months. And his daughter, the brilliant neurologist Dr Lee Wei Ling just passed on last Wednesday 🙏

  12. welcome to Singapore! Do try out some of our hawker centres or some prata from a coffee shop. There are lots of Halal food choices. I think you will really enjoy it.

  13. Lee Kuan Yew was a respectable man. Although very strict in rules n regulations , he and his team built Singapore to what you see today . Good education , racial harmony and political stability are important factors to keep Singapore going strong considering she has no natural resources unlike her neighbours. Our children are taught in school to uphold Singapore Pledge….. We the citizens of Singapore , pledge ourselves as one united nation. Regardless of race , language or religion. To build a democratic society based on justice and equality. So as to achieve happiness , prosperity and progress for our nation. I learned this in school and now I’m a senior citizen but I still keep it dear to my heart.

  14. You made some touristy mistakes. That huge building near your hotel at Victoria street is not a financial hub, but our National Library of Singapore. Many of us, go there to do research and write our thesis papers. 2ndly, Singapore was kicked out of Malaysian Federation, due to it's stand of democracy and equally to all, while Malaysia watned to be a country exclusively for Malay Muslims who will get all the privileges and high posts. Certain powerful men in Singapore are minorities, which includes the President and the Chief Justice. This merit and equality is what made Singapore great. Next you should have gone to Toast box, instead of that 2nd floor at the Esplanade. Coffee at the Toast box was cheaper and much better.

Since you have visited Bugis, you should head to Chinatown and Little India area. You will be surprised with the numerous places of worship through the island
