I'm more the opposite. I missed the couch on the Majestic Princess in a regular veranda room. No place to sit other than the one desk chair or the bed. Was an issue with where to enjoy room service in the cabin. Guess I would have to upgrade to Deluxe Veranda. Liked the bathroom decor better on Celebrity. Agree Princess closet is more spacious and easily accessed. I've booked Celebrity Summit cruise for next week. It looks like when Celebrity "revolutionized" the older Millennium class Summit and it should have better drawer space than it's Solstice class cousins.
I really liked your video today. It was very informative. I love to learn about other cultures and history. So I think I would like that excursion. Thank you
I love Princess’s closets but Celebrity Solstice showers!
Thanks!
HUGE DITTO ALLISON ❤ Thank you for your honesty 👏 🙏 we experienced and felt the same.
My mum always said……
Once you know, you know!
I used the International Cafe every morning on Caribbean Princess, enjoyed it a lot. I would definitely miss it.
Another thing I would miss is the Medallion and all the benefits that comes with it.
It sounds to me like your evening dinner cruise left a bit to be desired. I hope you notified the cruise tour staff about hour displeasure with the dancing. The cabin storage is certainly lacking. The hanging space was similar to what we had on MSC Meraviglia, awkward to get to.
We love the Princess mini suite layout. My husband works a lot on sea days so he likes the big desk. We also frequently bring our kids with us so it’s nice to have a bit more space. I love the International Cafe for a light breakfast or lunch when I’m not feeling something heavy or if I’m saving room for a special dinner.
Thank you for the heads up on the excursion that was not appropriate for children.
Your cabin needs lots and lots of magnets for extra storage.
Thank You Allison And Gordon For Taking Us Along On Your Cruise 😀
When are you coming home ?
On the Island for 20 days starting on the 25'th out of Athens……….4'th time on her, its like going home………we wouldn't know what to do w/o the big closet with the draws & cubbies plus all the draws both in the night stands and under the desk…living out of a suit case for 20 days would be tough……glad you are enjoying the cruise and we hope you left us some good weather….73 Mike & Jane from Boston
We really missed the Medallion
Thanks for the info about that uncomfortable sofa-bench. A real sofa (or at least 2 comfy chairs) is an absolute must for us. I'd have been very disappointed if I had booked your cabin expecting a comfortable sofa but got what is really just a padded bench. And, the lack of storage or even a simple upper shelf in the closet makes me scratch my head. Who designed that? I'll know what to look carefully for before booking Celebrity. Thanks!
My wife and I are doing a similar itinerary next May aboard the Sun Princess, doing Italy, Greece, and Turkey. What are the current visa requirements? I know that ETIAS may be active by then, but what about Turkey? It's not an EU country. Our stop in Istanbul is sandwiched between 2 stops in Greece, how will that work as far as customs and immigration?
Agree on International cafe and good food on Princess. The Buffet was always open, plus the pool grill and pizza. 🍕 😊
Comments:
1) While we liked the Celebrity Millennium, we were less than impressed with the Solstice which we spend 16 nights on in September. We found the storage space to be very minimal. We agree that the bench was not very comfortable.
2) That late night buffet is a mess. The pasta is either overcooked or undercooked and the pizza is barely edible. The Mast grill was consistently mediocre. The buffet food as a whole during the day was decent but the searing space is insufficient for the crowds.
3) The ship is noisy. You cannot read in the library at night as it is too loud. The only relief from the noise was to sit out in the lawn club which worked well in Hawaii but not Alaska.
We are moving most of our future cruises to HAL and Princess.
What a great video, Allison! You and Gordon are definitely intrepid travelers. Connie has always been nervous about going to Istanbul (probably because of what she heard about the grand bazaar) so hearing your thoughts on the city and it sights was great. One of the great things about travel is how it opens your mind to other cultures and lets you know that yes, we love America, but the people in other countries love their country as well.
Thank you! Steve & Connie. (We would miss the International Cafe too!) Not enough storage space in the room on that ship…
I love, love, love the closet and storage space in the mini-suites on the new Sun Princess. The only negative is that the rods to hang your clothes are so high up, you will need a step ladder to reach it if you are very short. Plus the top part of the hanger swivels so much that if you hit the rod, but miss hanging up your item, you have to bring the hanger down and re-position the hanger to try again. This happened to me multiple times and was very frustrating. What I started doing is keeping my clothes that came back from the laundry on the wire hangers and that worked better. Maybe the solution would be to take Gorilla Glue to fix the top of the hanger in the right position so it wouldn’t move. Just kidding about the Gorilla Glue option, but will suggest something to Princess in my review.
We agree on your 3 things. Storage was a pain (same room type). We did like the elevators though. Easy to see which one has arrived and showing what is on each deck while on the elevator was nice.
I agree with you!! I love the open closets on Princess. They are like a walk in closet. If you have kids that want their privacy or anyone else you can dress in the closet area and have some privacy. Plus the closet is just huge. I even hung up my tee shirts there was so much room. When I saw reviews of the Sun Princess I saw that the staterooms don't have that walk in closet area. I think I would miss that and I am sorry they changed that. We went on our first Silversea cruise to Alaska in May. Their rooms have a walk in closet like Princess has. Which of course it should have a large closet because it is luxury cruise line and we paid more for that amenity. But I loved it!
We are Princess fans, too. The thing I like the most is that during the night, when I get up to go to the toilet, the night light will automatically turn on.
Talking about feeling safe in that part of the world, when I told my friends about going to Egypt they said no way. Now, we just got back from our Viking river Nile cruise, I can tell them is very safe to go. Especially now US $$ is strong there.
Very informative video. We too are Princess fans. This just makes me more loyal to my favorite cruise line. Thank you Allison! 😊
