London 2024, MSC YACHT CLUB ROYAL SUITE – Denmark, Fjords, Norway
I do not own the copyrights to the music on this video. In October 2024 my husband and I embarked on what has come to be our annual vacation trip that is inclusive of air, land, and ship. This year’s air was British Airways First Class round trip. This FC was significantly different than others because it allowed access to the Concord room a bucket list visit for me. Many frequent flyers would find that the Concorde Room remains one of the world’s great lounges. Located in Terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow Airport, this lounge is known for awesome hospitality and service. Our visit certainly was a fine example of both. The list of sparkling wines that they serve definitely rivals anything in the world and is a finer sparkling wine selection than the Emirates First Lounge. You can taste a killer vintage Hattingley Valley vintage sparkling wine alongside the 2006 Cuvee Louise. And of course, there is the world-class complimentary spa treatment that makes it all worthwhile. Couple that with a Michelin chef to stir up whatever you fancy on or off the menu. We really enjoyed tasting a wide range of foods including fresh pasta, and pate which was one of the stars of the meal. And with this treasurer of a visit, the vacation was off to a lovely start.
Land stays in Kiel we bedded at a very swanky 4-star hotel that was trendy and well done. It puts you in mind of the “w” hotel in the USA. Of course, it was Oktober Fest in Germany every day. This made it an even better visit. Kiel is a port city on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast. In the old town, the rebuilt, medieval St. Nikolai Church hosts classical concerts. Holstenstrasse and Dänische Strasse are streets lined with shops. Along the Kiel Fjord, the Maritime Museum displays model ships and nautical instruments in a former fish auction hall. After an excellent dinner and enjoyment of the festivities, we rested.
The next day we scurried along in a private car to the port to start our Yacht Club embarkation. Our vessel this year was the gorgeous Italian-built MSC Euribia! Our world of privacy and Luxury for the next several days. Once we stepped into the MSC Yacht Club, our exclusive private sanctuary onboard only accessible by key card became our new home. We discovered elegance with the top Royal luxury suite in the front center of the ship directly above the Captain’s bow offering a 24/7 butler service. We enjoyed curated menus in private restaurants and unwound on the secluded pool deck. We had an elevated experience on a vacation that’s a step above the rest. This is a real treat! Our butler was prepared to meet our needs, whether that be bringing a late-night treat or turning down your room. From the minute you step on board, our dedicated butler was there by our side for a memorable experience. Our journey with MSC Yacht Club was tailored to perfection, guaranteeing every moment was marked by exceptional comfort and convenience from the thermal spa daily visits, different theatric shows each night, dancing, games, and rejuvenating Swedish massages. There was no stone left unturned. Shopping on the ship and the countries is always filled with fascinating finds.
Some of our stops included Copenhagen and the Fjords. Copenhagen – We explored the city’s medieval streets, visited the Royal Palace Amalienborg, and saw the Little Mermaid statue. We also check out the Round Tower observatory, Church of Our Saviour, King’s Garden, and Rosenborg Castle. We managed to see all the shops and restaurants that lined the waterway like hand in glove.
We discover a place of awe-inspiring natural beauty, rich cultures, and friendly locals on our journey to the North while chasing the northern lights, glittering fjords, and ancient castles.
The food was interesting to taste and the traditions even more so. The Fjords are the result of glaciers carving deep valleys into the Earth during the ice age, and then filling with water when the glaciers melted. The most recent ice age, which occurred from about 120,000 to 11,700 years ago, was a period when glaciers covered a quarter of the Earth’s land. We highly recommend it to any world traveler. You must experience the Nordic travel. Enjoy!
