Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, β€œWhat would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, ChΓ’teau de Saint-Germain-des-PrΓ©s. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful ChΓ’teau. They created β€œManor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

  1. Regarding the vase, that's also the going price here in our local antique shop, except your vase was a much prettier color and prettier foliage, too. Lovely!

  2. Your retreats always look like they are so much fun. The food, OMG are your chefs up for adoption? Because I would love to be adopted and to eat their amazing food every day.
All of your guests made beautiful art, I love the painting on silk, so much talent from people that say they don’t have talent, liars ❀️. Your talented artists that run the retreat are amazing!
The service set, and the desk and lamp, I want! Those were amazing.
Thank you for another wonderful video, I love watching the two of you together and the fun and love you have doing things together.

  3. thanks for sharing : your lovely guests, cooks and yourself are pieces of art – colorful, inspirational and happy in a wonderful autumn 🍁surroundings at the chateau or in medieval Sarlat πŸ‘πŸ‚πŸ‘

  4. As I watch the square and the folks at the cafe, I thought "I HOPE Sara and Steve are enjoying that side of French life, too. Making time to just stop and sit and people watch and enjoy each other's silence and then take up a good conversation again." I know it is extra difficult, coming from North America, to throw off the bonds that tie us to the never-ending To Do list, but I sincerely wish that you frequently partake of your new liberties, feel free of feeling you MUST be doing something because relaxing is "wasting time," and go cameras-off and just chill and enjoy France!

  5. I thought that looked like soooo much fun, too!
Wasn't the silk painting just a treat? All those colours on a beautiful soft and light fabric that is to be worn and showed off. It looked so playful.
My man's mother is an artist – and a darn good one, too – who used to do screen printing…I wonder if she's tried silk painting…
I wouldn't call my myself an artist, but I do love making crafty stuff.
It's obvious you both love opening your chateau for these life-uplifting retreats.
And now, the beds have to be stripped again…sigh. 😊
    Love, Jacqueline from New Zealand.

  6. A wonderful retreat, beautiful weather joy in creating and sharing with lovely hosts who inspire a feeling of comfort and freedom to explore ❀️ You chateau is Le chateau des artistes πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŽ¨β€οΈπŸŒΉ

  7. Your retreats, if this is even possible (because they have always been great) seem to be getting better and better. β™₯️
What absolutely perfect weather ! And that sunset – if we only caught a pale reflection in the video, no wonder everyone went out to see.
What a lovely market, with beautiful things. And those doors!!!
The food looks amazing. I recognized some of the cheeses, ones that sadly I can’t get in the US anymore. 😒
