  1. Yes there is a proverb in Korea '웃는얼굴에 침못뱉은다' one can't spit on a smily face ~ meaning alot will be firgiven when smiling ~

  2. Most of the time in Korea you can't get extra stuff (in Korean word ''서비스''), but since you smile and are kind to them,
they will probably give it to you. As more and more foreigners live in Korea, this kind of hospitality will disappear in the future.

  3. There's lots of Koreans just waiting for big crimes by foreigner to explore in Korea like big city in the world ,
Then all this hospitality toward foreigners will change to hate just like the rest of the world.

  4. Your neighbourhood does not look like any of the images of glitzy Seoul I have seen in videos. I am not sure if this makes sense, but it looks like a smaller city, like a real neighbourhood. Firstly the fact that you speak Korean, are polite and respectful goes a loooong way with Koreans. You stand out because you are a foreigner, but why do foreigners always complain I will always be seen as a foreigner? Why not use that to your advantage? Your Korean friend will walk into a restaurant and will look like any regular customer. Francois standing out is not necessarily a bad thing; I think you have started to realize that.

  8. 14:15 You got the point! Even though South Korea is getting open to the world, Koreans still do not know the outside and want to know people who is not Korean! But most Koreans are too shy to talk to you. That is why they stare at you. They want to know you even though they cannot speak English! Now you understand this, and it makes you much comfortable here.

  9. I saw a video of youtube couple living in Korea who complained about the inflated produce prices, but I think they are shopping in the wrong places. I was surprised how reasonable the prices for fruit were at your local fruit markets – some cost less and looked much higher quality than here in Canada. I love that you know support local small shops – it must feel great that they recognize you. That rarely happens in my city.

Maybe everyone likes your beautiful smile so they give you more service~ lol
