Nice watch! Go Green!
you didnt mention the price of the san leornardo? love that region
Try Marco Cirillo's 1850s grenache. Marco was at Antonio Galloni's Vinous Icons this year. At $70 AUD it is an amazing representation of 1850's old vine grenache from Barossa. The real deal
its sad that Terlans Pinot Bianco reserva is the best Pinot Bianco out there because it was pretty mid when I tried and it is until now the only Pinoc Bianco I have tried😅
Hi , have not seen the list but must say I opened and truly enjoyed a bottle of Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos 2019 from Chile this past weekend. I thought it was a stunning wine at an excellent price point for such quality!
Cheers 🍷
I'll try to find the Thörle Spätburgunder one, I regularly drink their wines and so far not a single bottle has disappointed me.
I enjoyed side by side a 2005 Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru and a 2001 Gaja Sori San Lorenzo. They both were very close in complexity and both were out of this world good on a league of their own. To be honest the Domaine Faveley for me was the better wine by slim margins. I find well made Nebbiolo wines are equali as good as well made Burgundy wines. That is why I like to drink them side by side and compare. You should try it and be amazed.
I have the 2021 K Vintners M.C.K. I do not think it is a 99 point wine. I find the descriptors are more inline with automotive aromas. Perhaps that is why it has the name Motor City in it's title.
Suckling does get a fair bit of jokes thrown at him from other wine critics and some wine geeks, but as you said with him and his team you get a much more diversified list compared to Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate and even Vinous. He also has helped Hungarian wines become more well known, which is great for Hungary's international profile. I also like the fact that it is quite focused on Riesling, Stuart Pigott surely knows his stuff. Thanks for the shout out for German Spatburgunder, I was just in Baden last weekend and had some enjoyable PNs. Cheers!
I picked up a case of the Comtes for $169/bottle a couple months ago. Its been great getting these Champagnes at dropping prices again
Good on him reviewing precursor POISON for the liver. Avoid.
Matthew: “Etna is blowing up!”
Sicilians: 😮👀
You have to admire Suckling and Parker for their business model. Taking money from producers to have their wines assessed is just brilliant. We’re all so well informed these days. Always knowing what to expect makes life a little dull sometimes. I admire the producers that don’t succumb to this racket.
Big fan of Castello Di Ama. If you ever get a chance to visit the vineyard, they have an INSANE contemporary art collection built by having artists in residence, big names like Hiroshi Sugimoto, Lee Ufan, and Anish Kapoor.
I have a Don Melchor 2018, which I believe James Suckling gave a 100 point rating. I’m looking forward to trying it, but I’ll let it sit for some years.
Critics exist to give definitive information on wine, which to most consumers boils down to a numeric rating displayed in the store or sometimes on the bottle.
My biggest problem with JS ratings and specifically this list is that 5 of the 100 are rated 97 pts, the rest 98-100. As a consumer, having so many different wines be given such high scores makes it difficult to make an educated decision on what to purchase. Wine is super personal and subjective, but I think so many nearly perfect scores can be misleading to most.

I have one of those Travalginis and drank one as well bit over a year back. It was almost a bruiser for a Gattinara. Built for ageing. Won't open the second one until earliest 2029.
"I want wines that are unique, have character." – Couldn't agree more.
Loved seeing K Vinter's M.C.K. (Motor City Kitty) 2021 at #7. Suckling has shown he is a big fan of Charles Smith, but to have this at #7 with a 99 point rating at only $40/bottle is such a delight to see. Kudos to House of Smith and K Vintner's.
