Fear vs. Fascination: Exploring the Incredible Abilities of Spiders | FULL DOCUMENTARY

They are said to be poisonous, evil, hairy and treacherous and live all around us. Whether from their physical appearance or their behaviour, spiders suffer a bad reputation. We know little of their habits and we often fear them. And yet the spider is a creature of many powers and an endless source of amazement.

Did you know that spiders can fly? And that some can jump more than 40 times their own height, while others spit, dance, and some species even live underwater? Did you also know that spider silk is a substance so strong that its physical characteristics have yet to be matched by the most advanced man-made materials? In a single square meter, you might find up to 200 of these eight-legged creatures.

With more than 40,000 species, the spider offers a rich field of study for international scientists. From the summits of the highest mountains to the most distant isles, they have conquered the entire world. They adapt, change and multiply, and form an essential part of the ecological balance.

Thanks to some extraordinary filming techniques, this documentary leads us into the magical world of the spider, and provides a rare look at its incredible capabilities. See like never before the creature that we have learned to fear and which until now has remained largely a mystery.

  2. J. From Michigan, Spiders are Cool! I was taught that they are our friends. Not scary at all. Beneficial and fascinating creatures. Great documentary. Thanks for sharing and by the way, if you're afraid of spiders, wasps, flys, ect… Get some chickens, no worries. ๐Ÿค

  3. Why do we have to know how spiders reproduce ? Why is it our business? How will this knowledge benefit humans? Really wondering why money is spent on this stuff. Itโ€™s interesting yes but ???

  4. I thought they had no mouth parts…so how do they "eat" their own webs?? Palps/pedipalps?? Since the web is a "solid"…what is happening with fangs??? Spiders are indeed fantastic creatures.

  5. Very impressive presentation! Thank you for the scholarly precision, sequential logic and thoroughness of information. I much prefer videos that don't avoid relevant terminology (with accurate pronunciations!) and respect the ability of viewers to repair to dictionaries or additional source information.
In any case–this entire video was really interesting, with wonderful camerawork.

  6. Must every animal doc cram evolution down my throat? These documentaries put me in a state of praise. Tell me please, how did every living thing even realize there was something they needed to see? & then every single living thing evolve the same thing to see with… Eyeballs! & where are all the fossil records showing all the steps it took for the fish to turn into a mouse, kangaroo, garraffe, bear? There are none. There are no fossil records of any animal changing into something else. Chew on that.
