While Google Flights is a fantastic tool for visualizing flight options and prices, it’s important to remember that it doesn’t show every available flight. Some airlines, like Southwest, may not be fully integrated with Google Flights, meaning their flights might not appear in the search results.

Additionally, Google Flights can sometimes be misleading with pricing, especially when it comes to per-person versus total costs.

To save money, we initially booked separate flight legs with different airlines. While this strategy can sometimes work, it can also lead to significant complications.

In our case, EasyJet canceled our original flight and rebooked us on a much later one, which didn’t fit our travel plans. This forced us to scramble to find alternative flights and pay additional fees.

• Explore Multiple Booking Platforms: Don’t limit yourself to Google Flights. Consider using other platforms like Skyscanner, Kayak, and Expedia to compare prices and find the best deals.

• Book with a Single Airline: Book your entire itinerary with one airline whenever possible. This can simplify the process and make managing any potential disruptions or changes easier.

• Don’t Hesitate to Ask for Special Accommodations: Airlines often offer special accommodations, such as exit row or bulkhead seats, at no extra cost. Don’t be afraid to ask!

• Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates and Times: Sometimes, adjusting your travel dates or times by a few days can lead to significant savings.

By avoiding these common mistakes and following these tips, you can confidently book your flights and enjoy a stress-free travel experience.
