Solo boating in West Sweden. OOPS, that was quite a go-throughs, p17/35; s4/e41

A tour of just a couple of hours gives so much footage, that I already produced a couple of video’s out of it, and still have left out a lot. Join me when I enjoy the many go-throughs the Archipelago has. And every time I pass these villages I think: “how do these people earn their money?” Join me on my tour along Klädesholmen, Skärhamn and Harmanö.

Cams aboard Lady Liselot. Check them out on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3P5jFxP (but the silly thing is: these https://amzn.to/3T1AYB2 almost are alike).

The 4 camera’s I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ – P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called “IP camera’s”, each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

Solo boating in West Sweden with stunning go-throughs, p17/35; s4/e41

This channel follows a format: “Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further”. That’s it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life’s like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it’s simply my story and the way I do things. Nothing more, nothing less.

  1. Hank. You are in my favorite cruise grounds. I spent a lot of time in Kungsviken working for Malo Yachts as the North American sails agent. We had the chance to sail our own Malo demo yachts in the area. Lots of memories and funny stories to remember, especially talking the Americans president of Saab and his wife sailing!

  2. Interesting to see people that are not from here and how they react to the narrow parts. Hjärterösund for example used to be no speed limit and you had to meet boats going 25 knots or more in the most narrow parts. With the 5 knot limit there are no problems.

  3. For many years I have been working for a company with their headquarters in Skärhamn. So I have often been there. My hotel was one of the red houses on the small passage with the balcony direct on the water. Very nice. The headquarter was on the top of a rock near the entrance of the harbour with an amazing view over the fjord.
In the entrance very near to the harbour where you also passed is one very, very narrow passage just a bit wider than the boat. I have seen locals passing there with quite big ships and with amazing speeds. I had the impression that they were able to touch the rock with their hands, so close were they passing. One of them was a patrolvessel of the coastguard. Unbelievable how they pass there in a very narrow passage surrounded by rocks. With my own boat I always slow down when it becomes too narrow because I am afraid to touch the rocks. But the locals sometimes just continue like there are no rocks at all. Unbelievable. But very, very nice area for sailing. I am planning to go there again.

  4. The narrow chanel in the beginning of your video is amongst boating people on the swedish westcoast nicknamed "The Maiden hole" 😮, beause of its narrowness. 😊
And during strong winds in the summer, its a perfect place to seek shelter on some of the islands surrounding it.
