  1. for the misanthropes amongst us, what are some good options? though i love swimming, i have long abhorred coastal regions in the summer, so much filth.. so i only go swimming in cold seasons, even in rain and snow LOL. in summer I retreat to mountains, but one needs to go to fairly cold and risky places to be alone… and even there hominid-made machines like airplanes cause noise and disturbance. i wonder how it is to live on a small yacht, just drifting around in international waters, only occasionally picking up supplies in different ports/countries?

  2. Regarding "Retirees;" Asia / SE Asia has the most "Toxic" Air Quality on the planet .. If your "into your Health" and esp if you have Asthma or COPD, Stay Away, during Winter Months (Burning Season).. Other Prob is Global Warming .. SE Asian Countries are Ground zero, have seen Unheard of, Insane, Rcd Break Temps, past few yrs, and the Typhoons, Floods (and droughts) are getting Radically worse ..Beware of Diet; the Oils, Salt & Sugar, in the St / Rest Foods will shorten your life bigtime ..

  3. "Cheap is Great" But these "Escape to Paradise" Vids (aimed at Retirees) always leave out Air Quality (not to mention Real time Climate Change Threats and Food Quality-Diet) "Quality of Life" ..

  4. Dear Lady i've seen several of your videos, you are quite preachy & id' like to remind you one small thing : as a Digital Nomad & your bizness with your youtube channel you're already a very privileged person. Everybody hasn't got the possibility to do so. So please remember that. Thank you.

  5. Please please please

We are pleading on bended knees

Don't come to s e Asia we are full already and there are not enough women to go around

    Go to Latin America

Thank you thank you thank you

  6. If you can afford the time & money, try living 3-6mths in each of your top 3 places. $ is just at 2nd or 3rd priority in the list of considerations. Whether you can accept the climate, culture & food is key. We cannot control the weather and culture. SE asia is hot & wet, if you can't stand humidity heat or spice in food you likely won't enjoy it unless you plan to stay in your air conditioned room all the time. In Asia we eat our fish with the head attached, that's typically the culture unless you go for Western style restaurants. I know some Europeans /Americans who are absolutely horrified by the fish head staring in their faces. And Yes we do eat Fish heads too! Hugging or kissing is not a thing in Asia for most people. If you have the need to feel human connection physically, you'll be disappointed. Even saying "I love you" is not a thing for Asian people, we rarely say it to our family members. It's mostly reserved for lovers or spouse. If you come thinking Asian women are lowly educated and see geriatric White men as cavaliers coming to rescue them from poverty, think again. There are plenty of gold diggers here in the East too, and some play such a long game you can't even fathom. Places like Vietnam, India and Thailand will likely get the bulk of industry investments as the money is being pulled out of China. Do factor in economic growth in these places so that your retirement income meets the growing standards of living in the next decades.

  7. Been to Bali a few times..but lately the island is increasingly overrated n overcrowded n the locals are starting to complain about over-tourism n are worried about nature being destroyed… Right.? 😮

  8. Asian countries are becoming popular for many retirees these days. Only issue is the climate being humid and hot except in winter in South and South east Asia.Though winter is mild in majority of Asian countries, it's the best time to visit. But Central and East Asian countries climatic conditions are different.

  9. Thanks Kristin! I stayed in Osaka with a friend a few years ago and was surprised at how reasonable it was to live there. One interesting thing was how neighbors alternated cooking dishes for each other. Also, there was a community garden to pick vegetables to cook. I plan to get back to Thailand someday too. Philippines seems to have frequent updates to their Visas, so I hope it does not change too much before I spend time there.

  10. I've lived in 5 of these countries and have settled in Siem Reap, Cambodia. PP is too big. The food in the Phils is awful. Phuket is little Moscow. We have the best, easiest, and cheapest visas for retirees.

  11. Great video. I retired in Thailand. I am happy here. My living expenses in Thailand are very low.

    1. Housing – Condo that is a five-minute drive to the beach, the rent is $207 + elec & water $40 = $247/month, (I have a video of the Condo)

    2. Food – I eat out all the time – $360 (shrimp fried rice with vegetables and an egg = $2.05)

    3. Vehicle – 2022 Honda ADV 150 rental – $160

    4. Debts – I do not pay others for money I do not have.

    5. Care – Hair cut -$3, other stuff – $20

    6. Insurance – Health $145 (I am over 60) $250,000 policy

    7. No pets

    8. $25 – googel phone

    9. Gas – I fill up about once every 3-4 weeks Scooter $20

    10. Sevices – $20

Total = $1,000, I live in Pattaya Thailand

I did not include entertainment. You live next to the beach; you can get a beer in a bar on the beach for $2.50.

    PS

I paid $2,600 for my Custom Lamborgini Orange Honda ADV 150, so I do not have a scooter Payment.

You can buy a condo like mine for $30,000.

If you take the condo and scooter price out it is Total = $593

The Thai people are great (land of smiles). Crime is very low; so low I do not worry about it. I left my phone on my motorbike for four hours. When I came back it was still there (I have done this twice so far).
