I head up to the Rock of Monaco with stunning views of Port Hercules to one side and Fontvieille to the other.
As part of Monaco-Ville the Rock has been home to the ruling Grimaldi dynasty for over 700 years. The residence of the current monarch Albert II is nearby and as is the Cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.
On the west coast of the principality sits Fontvieille, initiated by the former ruler Prince Rainier III. This part of city is almost entirely reclaimed land built in the 1970s’ and the 1990s’ housing a marina and residences.
