Vancouver is a major city in Western Canada, located in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia. As the most populous city in the province, the 2021 Canadian census recorded 662,248 people in the city, up from 631,486 in 2016. The Metro Vancouver area had a population of 2.6 million in 2021, making it the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada. Greater Vancouver, along with the Fraser Valley, comprises the Lower Mainland with a regional population of over 3 million. Vancouver has the highest population density in Canada, with over 5,700 inhabitants per square kilometer (15,000/sq mi), and the fourth highest in North America (after New York City, San Francisco, and Mexico City).

  1. Great video! I can tell how much effort you're putting into this.

Also, don't worry about the performance of this video too much, this is gonna be the hard part of your pivot. Your audience will grow once the algorithm finds them.

  2. thank you, Good work! im excited to vist vancouver properly, usually i get there and have a panic attack because of the tall buildings and look at the ground for the rest of teh trip.

  3. Google Vancouver view cones. It's the reason you can see certain things at different points around the city. It has reduced the size of mega towers but keeps the city views.

  4. Awesome video! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed your time here 🙂 The biggest thing about Vancouver for me is how the mountains always help you find North. I've been elsewhere in the world, and it always feels so weird not being able to orient myself based on the mountains. I feel so lost without them!

  5. I live in Yaletown and I absolutely love it. I have found people to be relatively nice and have made new friends here. The walability, and livelihood of the neighborhood is so fun. It is ridiculously expensive but to us it is worth it

  6. Vancouver isn’t “also known as Gastown”; Gastown is a small neighborhood in Vancouver that was the site of the original settlement that became the City of Vancouver.

  7. a few notes – first off, loved the video – as a west end resident, i really liked that part – second – yes that sculpture at english bay is creepy af, most of us agree. Third – vancouver convention centre – only canada place part was built in 1986 for the worlds fair – the part you showed (the west building) was built for the 2010 olympics 🙂

  8. Gastown is a small neighbourhood in downtown, not a nickname for Vancouver.

Pacific Northwest typically just refers to Washington and Oregon. We typically just call it the West Coast.

  9. Very well researched and informative. Unfortunately video doesn't capture the majesty of the North Shore moutains, they're quite a sight, especially in winter. Will watch Seattle next.

  10. Great video. Very well-researched as well. Your deep dive into the history of the city is one of the best on Youtube! It must have taken forever to edit.

BC/Metro Vancouver has exploded in population growth since COVID ended. Current population trends have Metro Vancouver at 3,100,000 and the greater Fraser Valley region at around 3.4 million.
