Van Life In Naples, Italy was NOT what we expected.
Check out the Pizza cooking class we did: https://getyourguide.tp.st/rns0UU4d
Naples, Italy – Is it SAFE for VAN LIFE? We’ve all heard the stereotypes – a city rife with petty crime, rubbish and graffiti everywhere, pickpockets – we decided to visit Naples with an open mind, and while yes, there is trash and grafitti, the people of Naples are warm and friendly, and the city has a great vibe and energy.
We checked out the main things to see in Naples and of course, being the birthplace of Pizza, we did a Pizza Cooking Class – we learnt ALL THE THINGS we were doing wrong with our home made Pizza!! The results were delicious!

Fior di latte means cow milk mozzarella …. mozzarella di bufala means buffalo milk mozzarella-
Fior di latte it's less milky it's better the pizza will be less watery
You demonstrated that it's almost impossibile to escape stereotypes when dealing with Naples.
I totally agree, very vibrant city. Herculaneum is brilliant, look forward to the next video.
Now you can come back to Australia and open up your own pizza restaurant πβ€
I can't wait for you next video, thanks.
Thank you for all the information, you are both doing a great job as a tourist guide. Looking forward to your next post. ππ·π
merry xmas to you both great place naples italy hope u both best for xmas
Music teacher liked the harmony singing in the motorhome. Stu
Thanks great content as usual. Enjoying this series. Bill Mc
Another fabulous video of Naples, and a history lesson and stunning views, but the Graffiti was a blight on a beautiful city, cheers from Downunder π¦π¦π¦β€οΈπ¦πΊ
Great video again! Thank you.
ROUS. Rodents of unusual size! Princess Bride! πππ
Naples looks amazing. Been on my list to get to for years. I enjoyed your pizza class and those views from the top of that fort. What a glorious city. I have friends who always make it their base when in Italy, as Robert's maternal family originally hales from that area. They have seen it with knee deep garbage, but still keep going back for the food, sights, ambience and a lot less tourists. Happy New Year. May 2025 bring you both lots of safe and fulfilling travel and the good health to enjoy it! Cheers. Now I'm off to make an Aperol Spritz myself! π
The first castle only 800yrs old could be one of the younger castles in Italy and why it was named as it was being the younger castle. That pizza making class was amazing, only 90seconds as well in the oven. That other castle you went into for only 5 Euro definitely looked very worth it. Thanks for another travel vlog.
You missed some big point of interest like the veiled Christ, underground city, the street food and much more (like you said the museums and some Caravaggio's are the main things to see).
That guy wasn't probably try to rob you, we have the bad habit to stare at people, sometimes beyond the reasonable amount of time. It's not considered unpolite (I find it a little too much myself tbh).
Sometimes pickpocketing happens but the frequency is like in any other city and in these last decade I can say that the city center is safer than Rome and Milan's (data in hands), it was not the case like 20 years ago.
The gentrification process of those areas of the city was huge and those streets that were home of the poorest part of the society are now B&B, food spots, tourist attractions. Bad for the idendity but good for business.
I suggest you don't miss Herculaneum and Cuma. You can also go see Bacoli and the solfatara of Pozzuoli (google all of this).
I see your site is being bombed with begging rubbish…can you block them? Other than that, safe and happy 2025, looking forward to future videos!
Nigel and Sue are the same. The van is similar. But the sights and sounds are so different from your australian adventures. Thanks for the videos.
Fantastic once again. Cannot wait to see your hike up Mount Vesuvius.
Grazie
Love the the more original or older streets of naplesβ€
You were in San Martino…the famous Certosa, a UNESCO heritage site, is located there π€·π».
loving this series very much. really appreiciate your efforts for such quality footage. safe travels
AS I was bound to say, that pizza making class looked awesome and terrific fun as well. Next Week: Nigel turns the entire motor home into a Pizzeria, complete with oven!! Thanks again Nigel & Sue for another excellent video.
I used to live about 10 miles up the coast from Naples, nice to see some of the sights again ,been years since I've been back need to go again I guess.
We overnighted part way up vesuvius in our camper, can't say exactly where but it was someplace where large busses . terminated and turned around. It overlooked the city.
Great vidπ
Look forward to your episodes…even from the Royal Princess sailing around NZ
Another great Italian vlog. Naples is a wonderful city. Really looking forward to the others in this series. The Costa Amalfitana is my favourite place in the worldβ€β€
Thank you for the explanations; they are very helpful.
ββ ββwell done ππ
Great video Nigel & Sue! Naples is a bit 'rough around the edges' but its a great entry point/city for getting down to the Sorrento coast and Pompeii. You captured the city well in this video, love the quality of your footage!
Go to Caserta to see the Reggia di Caserta is one of the most stunning Palaces in the world and is not so popular.
Wow excellent aspects of Naples TFS π
