Madeira tours brought to you by This is the west of Madeira Island tour.

Once you are picked up from your hotel the excursion minibus heads toward to Câmara de Lobos, a traditional fishing village. Located just five kilometers from Funchal city centre, this quaint harbour-side village is both traditional and delightful. We stop here for thirty minutes giving you plenty of time to explore.

Further along the road from Câmara de Lobos is Cape Girão. This Cape is the highest cliffs in Europe and second highest in the world. The views are spectacular back along the coastline to Funchal. The stop here lasts twenty minutes.

Next we venture on to Ribeira Brava a small village on the southwest coast of Madeira. Here we stop for forty-five minutes to allow you time to visit the fifteenth century church and to take advantage of the several cafes for a spot of refreshment.

Back in the minibus, we climbed the Paul da Serra plateau that reaches 1500 meters above sea level in the central-eastern region of Madeira. From here you can gaze out across fabulous views of the volcanic mountains and green valleys. The stop in this natural reserve park is for thirty minutes.

Of course, no tour of the west would be complete without a visit to Porto Moniz, and that is our next stop. Breaking here for lunch, the stop of two and a half hours gives you plenty of time to walk down to the seafront and famous natural salt water volcanic rock bathing pools. Or, maybe, you just want to stroll along the promenade and enjoy the sights of the refurbished fort, now home to the Madeira Aquarium, and the modern Living Science Centre.

Continuing back along the spectacular coastline with natural waterfalls, we next visit Seixal. Stopping at a vantage point to view the much photographed Bridal Veil waterfall.

Now, very definitely heading back to Funchal, we take the opportunity to stop by at São Vicente, one of the most important villages on the north coast of Madeira and at the head of the Central Valley. Here you can visit the seventeenth century church.

Finally, before we drop you off back at your hotel, we take a detour to Encumeada. From this elevated position, you can look out across the entire width of the island and view the south and north coasts from the same spot.
