TROUBLED WATERS | SAILING MAYOTTE

TROUBLED WATERS | SAILING MAYOTTE

Welcome back. This week our sailing family navigates the enchanting French island of Mayotte, nestled at the northern end of the Mozambique Channel. Renowned for it’s crystal-clear tropical waters and vibrant reefs, that feel untouched by time. Yet, beneath Mayotte’s beauty lies a turbulent story. Political challenges, poverty, overcrowding, rising crime and severe migrant crisis. Adding to the populations struggles, shortly after our visit Mayotte received a devastating cyclone. Join us as we turn to face our own challenge, sailing the Mozambique Channel.

  1. Wow! what a beautiful spot to dive. Yea I heard on the news about the Cyclone that directly hit French Island of Mayotte 12/15/2024. What a disaster and not fun to celebrate Christmas.
I did not know that the Island was having an illegal immigration problem. This Cyclone doesn't help matters in that regards actually makes the situation worst as their emergency resources meant for the People of Mayotte will now have to be used on the Illegals and it is the citizens of Mayotte that will suffer.
Hope your family time over Christmas and the New Years was fantastic. Hope 2025 is a fantastic year for you cheers . looking forward to next video

  2. Wow. What a thumbnail. That should get some clicks lol. I am impressed that Ivan is still tolerant of the camera at his age. We sure will be sad when he leaves the boat.

  3. Well done Ivan❤Your the Captain

    Is this just another day?
    This God forgotten place
First comes love and then comes pain
    Let the games begin
    Questions rise and answers fall
    Insurmountable
    Love boat captain
Take the reigns and steer us towards the clear, here
It's already been sung, but it can't be said enough
    All you need is love
    Is this just another phase?
    Of earthquakes making waves
Trying to shake the cancer off?
    Oh, stupid human beings
Once you hold the hand of love
    It's all surmountable
Hold me and make it the truth
That when all is lost, there'll be you
'Cause to the universe, I don't mean a thing
And there's just one word I still believe
    And it's love
It's an art to live with pain
    Mix the light into grey
Lost nine friends we'll never know
    Two years ago today
And if our lives became too long
Would it add to our regret?
And the young, they can lose hope
'Cause they can't see beyond today
The wisdom that the old can't give away, hey
    Constant recoil
Sometimes life don't leave you alone
Hold me and make it the truth
That when all is lost, there will be you
'Cause to the universe, I don't mean a thing
And there's just one word that I still believe
And it's love, love, love, love, love
Love boat captain, take the reigns
    Steer us towards the clear
I know it's already been sung
    Can't be said enough
    Love is all you need
    All you need
    Is love
    Love, love

  4. Great video as always. Btw, you certainly received a friendlier reception than M. Macron did last month from gangs of very vocal jemienfoustiste Mahorais! More and more I love the very handmade The Cruising Kiwis legend on the boom, doubly so when Mocha is sitting under it. Best regards.
P.s. But I did make it back for your Livestream…. 😅dw

  5. I had difficulty’s editing and posting this comment I just wrote: To finally finish it off. “Most Kiwi’s arrive in Australia hoping for better economic and better living conditions. What they find is overcrowding a high crime rate and social tensions. Straining Australia’s already strained public services and leaving residents feeling unsafe, not because of these Kiwi’s crossing the ditch, yet the rest of the migrants flooding in from other countries. Ironically a great deal of Kiwi’s become security guards….It’s all True Cruising Kiwi’s 😊

  6. Great to see the Fontaine and the Privilege Cats together, some precision sailing there guys. Looked like a very healthy reef in Mayotte and you must have enjoyed yourselves hey! Another very informative episode, that’s guys! Be safe and take care 🙏😇👍⛵️

  7. Great under water photography! Love seeing this type of footage. Please keep posting your diving and snorkelling adventures. Best of luck on the sail south.

  10. I hope you guys are safe if still in Mayotte with the hurricane approaching (again). Have you seen Masai in Mayotte? The new owner arrived a few days after the last devastating typhoon…Happy new year and fair winds, especially for heading to Richard's bay…

  11. Love you guys! Thanks for the beautiful underwater videography. It's 29°F where I live, so it's lovely to see blue water & fair weather. Safe journey. ❤

  12. Lovely video as always Cruising Kiwis 👍🏻. Just re-subscribed, needed to take bit of a break from social media, youtube etc., but kept watching your videos 🤗.
Any chance ye are going to double back to catch Madagascar & Kilamanjaro 🏔 as might calm down again for suez route.
Or maybe head straight for Brazil 🇧🇷. Anyways wishing ye all the best for 2025✨.

  13. nice video as always, glad see Ivan helping out with all the maintenance. Sorry for the people on that island, my mother always said, "you think you have it bad, someone has it worse" as always pet the Mocha and put her in a box and mail her me. Kitty express mail. hehehe

  14. Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

  15. What a terrific video. I really enjoyed it. The underwater photography was incredible. So sorry for the people of Mayotte, nobody deserve this. Ivan is pretty good with mechanics. Well done all. keep well and safe. James.

I've just come back from NZ after having a 4 weeks holiday after the IM70.3 WC in Taupo. Had a great time, NZ is a such a beautiful country with still lots of fantastic nature. And met so many great people. Now, it's back in the cold and snowy European winter….. 😕
