We did not expect NEW ZEALAND would be like this…

As we are arriving in Asia we have a new partner. And for the channel it is a very good news! Communications and access to internet are essential for us and HOLAFLY is now supporting our journey! We’re heading to a land surrounded by the world’s largest ocean, a place where towering mountains, majestic glaciers, and winding fjords meet. A land so remote, it feels like it’s tucked away in one of the farthest corners of the map… New Zealand.

We are so excited we were given the opportunity to discover this country even though it is not with the Albatross. This is all thanks to our friend Tom and his generous offer to lend us his own Defender Land Rover the amazing Jerry. If you follow us you would know Tom and Jerry from our Journey through the Americas.

Getting our 4×4 to this stunning corner of the world is complicated but luck was on our side. A generous friend stepped in and lent us his 1998 Land Rover Defender

what we discover exceeded our expectations. This… is New Zealand.

  2. Mum the southern alps has a ton load of fault lines on it so who would live in a zone like that?, have a look see at what happened to chch in 2010 & 2011 earthquakes and you'll understand why few ppl live their just my thoughts

  3. Sorry about the weather, it is extremely colder than normal for this time of the year. Hope you enjoyed your trip. You missed so many great spots. Maybe next time.

  4. Worthwhile to mention there tend to be lots of quicksand patches in the higher reaches of those braided river valleys, especially after floods. It may look like a nice sandy patch, next thing you`re up to your door handles. Good Luck,,,

  5. "travel (from the french word travail) is for people that are incapable of being happy at home"
hu-mans avoid facing their pain with activity and acquisition, noise and neurosis, appearing to be "happy'
Nothing is what it appears to be

  6. Lovely footage, but please note that there are very strict drone laws in New Zealand, and they are not allowed in many areas, including National Parks. All your footage in Arthur's Pass National Park was illegally shot.

  7. Firstly welcome to New Zealand, may you find adventure in every kilometer.
I'm a Kiwi and absolutely love the country, but what I love more is when foreigners come and explore and find places I've never been or seen.
Summer is very mild this year so you may be in luck as the New Zealand sun is intense even on cold summer days. Hopefully Jerry has a few more K's in its old bones and you guys get to see more of this amazing country, something different around every bend, over every hill.
As we say in New Zealand "Kia Kaha" – "Stay Strong" including Jerry.

  8. Thanks to both of you, and Tom as well, for the gift of this video. I would very much like to be in NZ right now. It is winter in the U.S., and it is a very rough and bitter one, in every way imaginable.

  9. Hey Mathilde, welcome to NZ and great work on the video and editing.. small comment… all those cute sheep were female so you misgendered them by addressing them as Sir… it should have been Miss… 🙂 😁 travel safe

  10. Shame about driving all over the river bed, and therefore encouraging other visitors to do the same. It's always annoying when you are down at the river enjoying nature and some dude comes along driving all over the river bed. Park up next to the river and go for a walk.

  11. oh look! Rich white privilege borrowing a vehicle from equally rich white NZ farmer privilege so they can go driving all over braided river beds for their influencer YT channel shots.

  12. Really enjoyed your wondeful video and may thanks to you!! Have a question, what drone do you use and is it ok to fly the drone near the lake Pukaki? And more tips on flying the drone in NZ

  13. I just finished a 1825km trip down the west coast from Nelson and back up the east coast over the weekend on a motorbike (Aprilia 900 Shiver) I don't think I'll be in a hurry to do it again, every part of me hurt. When I went to the Cave Stream place many years ago, we had the abseil down into it from what would be the top there were no ladders.

  14. A world journey by land rover… phew! Very 1970s. When I think of the Climate and Environment at this time in the history of humanity, I can't help but think this isn't the right thing to be doing. Living without consequences or thinking of what one is doing to the ecosystems of the planet. It could be a marketing promotion for New Zealand tourism. We have enough problems with our river water quality, drinking water and industrial agriculture without dealing with vehicle pollution from backroad tourists. There must be more considered ways to travel around the world in 2024, 2025.
