For me it's just the opposite. I have a history with the Philippines and Thailand dating back to 1977. Have lived in both countries for long periods of time, as well as traveling to both numerous times, after my departures. There is much to love about both countries in my opinion, but to me Thailand has the Philippines beat hands down, and here are my reasons. One of the most important factors, health care. Thailand's healthcare is light years ahead of the Philippines. Infastruce. There is no comparison. Food. Thai good is world renowned where Filipino food is barely on the map. The biggest advantage the Philippines has is it's English language speaking population, until you get into the provincial areas, where no one really speaks it. Thailand has just as many beautiful beaches and unique travel destinations as the Philippines. Physical safety is much more sketchy in the Philippines also, especially down in certain parts of Mindanao. It might sound like I'm knocking the Philippines, but in actuality, I'm just comparing apples to apples. What's right for me is not right for someone else. To each their own. There will always be a special place in my heart for the Philippines, having such a long history with it, but for everyday living and retirement, Thailand is how I roll.

Honest opinion here. Infrastructure and healthcare is way better in Thailand but people in Philippines is the best of all asians. If you are older and can still travel to get your overhaul like a car:), check up and get things done (hospital needs), just travel to Thailand and enjoy the sceneries, playing soccer elephants, etc. Praying for Philippines infrastructure and healthcare will be strengthen asap.
