It lies in the middle of the Romanian Plain, on the banks of Dâmbovița River, a small northern tributary of the Danube. The river is lined by boulevards with walkways along its banks and flows through the central Bucharest, the Old Town, one of the most beloved and attractive areas in Bucharest.
