Avoid this common scam in Tokyo’s Red Light District, Kabuikcho. Also saw this a lot in Golden Gai, Shinjuku and Shibuya. Japan is really safe, so don’t worry, but these scammers are out in large numbers late night :). You can just tell them “no thanks,” and keep walking

That happens in every country to tourists. I saw a doc about scammers and it get scary in Turkey.
Lol they did this to me. They followed me all the way to 711 and watched me eat an entire strawberry whip cream sandwich before they realized I wasn't on that typa time.

It's a hostess bar. Are those not common in the mainland USA? In Hawai'i thluey are fairly common. They aren't exactly legal but they also aren't illegal or detrimental enough to be charged, prosecuted, or shut down. As long as they pay for their licenses and don't have underage workers it is all kosher.

This is where Turkey wins over Japan. They have under cover cops patrolling and will pounce on scammers at tourist hotspots

I have found that in Asia these kind of places make for the best stories and adventures when travelling. The trick is to not look like a tourist for starters, then find a local guide to go with that will give you the heads up on things.
Most people go to the karaoke bar full of tourists, where I would more likely to be down some dark side alley rasta bar playing pool with the locals.
I sure they have shop that sell good steel weapons.

Kabukicho is a mess. Ikebukuro, Gotanda, literally any where else in Tokyo offers real services.
The issue is idiots see videos like yours (even though I know you’re trying to warn them) and think this is where the action is.
