Be careful when you choose property in Bulgaria, as buildings built between 1990 and late 2000s, for the most part, are infamous for their low quality of construction. It was a hectic period, and a lot of construction companies would disregard safety standards, leading to all kinds of problems, and potentially structural defects. That holds true especially for sub-roof places, where there's a big risk of leakages during rainy weather. Usually buildings built before the 90s and after 2010 (roughly speaking) are of higher quality and I would recommend looking at them.
Hi.
Sofia is indeed one of the oldest cities in Europe, but Plovdiv is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe, over 7000 years.
Also, Plovdiv's pedestrian street is supposedly the longest in Europe.
Thanks for the tour // Nice place …
Are you guys going up to the Rila Monastery?? Beautiful videos of beautiful bulgaria!! Thank you for sharing!
Val you are a little muffled. Is you mic to close to your shirt. Jay is really clear. Sometimes you are a bit clearer. I love the colours of the buildings. Guess you realized you have a mic problem. Good again when you were holding it.
If the Canadians are saying it's cold, I trust it. Feels like -29 in Ottawa today.
Plovdiv, Bulgaria🇧🇬 🙌🙌
I wonder how packed those cobblestone streets are in July???
Plovdiv is the fifth oldest city in the world, according to a ranking by the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The city was founded in 4000 BC and is the second largest in Bulgaria.
im from Plovdiv 🙂 i was wating for this video <3 thank you
There isn't much to see in Sunny Beach, but you can visit nearby Nessebar, Burgas, and Sozopol. They are all very nice.
Nice video, you should also check Burgas and Veliko Tarnovo, both for very different reasons 🙂 … although cats I guess is a common one.
City of Philip the great (father of Alexander the great) -> Philippopolis. It's literally too hot in the summer, I don't recommend 🙂
The Roman amphitheater in Plovdiv is used for concerts even today. "The Stadium of Philippopolis was the ancient Roman stadium of Philippopolis, built in the 2nd century. It is among the largest and best preserved buildings from the time of the Roman Empire in the Balkan peninsula." "The mosque is located in the center of Plovdiv and was built in 1363–1364 . " I feel sorry you missed the most impressive for me Grand Basilica mosaics . The town was named after the father of Alexander the Great. There is a forum further. In my opinion Plovdiv is the most impressive town in Bulgaria, there are ancient ruins in display even in the H &M store . Oh, yeah , as far as I know according to the laws back then you were supposed to pay property taxes on the square meters of your house on the ground and that's why people would build second and above floors that way. ( I might be mistaken, so I wouldn't mind being corrected by someone) Best of luck with finding your home wherever you will.
プロブディフは、坂と道がガタガタで疲れます。
Hello from Ottawa.Wish I was there with you lol Feels -29 today 😮😅
I've been looking into a trip to Croatia and Hungary but I am considering adding Plovdiv if the commute is convenient. I see the train only goes to Sofia
Sunny Beach is awful, you should visit the old Nessebar instead.
You were "lucky" to hit the coldest days in Plovdiv, even in Sofia was better – the weather. So I hope it is the cold, as – boy, the streets are deserted- kind of sad, tbh… I am mostly sure it is different in the summer, I enjoy the crowds of tourists in Sofia center in good days. First time I saw such crowds in the summer in other parts of Europe, so called western Europe – Salzburg, Munich, Venice on the tourist spots/promenades.
No trams in Plovdiv, but there are trolley-buses, I believe.
And about the cold, Bg is supposedly a southern country, but in Sofia we have 6 months with central heating, so as a politician from a cold country said- We are not so much against the global warming…
I only got to take a one day tour to Plovdiv and it was really great so I knew I would want to see more. I learned so much about the history there and it is fascinating. They call this the cultural and art center of Bulgaria. I saw a building that was being reconstructed when I was there and is now done. I learned that they must follow the rules of building in the traditional looking style in this area, which makes sense to keep the vibe of old town. they have many live events at the old theatre so I will love to see something there. Ahh, thank you again for filling my heart with Bulgarian joy.
Sunny beach is garbage, I am sorry to hear that you decided to visit it for the limited time you have, instead of investing it for something that’s worth it. Honestly it doesn’t even feel safe. In winter might be slow and different, but once the season hits it gets full with trash, underaged drunk teens from all over Europe, misbehaving adults and mafia. There are other sea resorts that are more cultural and suitable for you, as you don’t seem to be the kind of people that would enjoy Sunny Beach’s crazy nightlife.
