Is Kagoshima famous for the wrong thing?

We research places (so much research!) before we visit them, and still Kagoshima managed to surprise us! We traveled to the far end of Japan to visit Kagoshima’s very scenic Sakurajima volcano, Japan’s most active volcano. It’s what happens before we ever got there that surprised us!

  1. Hi, just wanted to say that I really enjoy your channel! It was very helpful for my Taiwan trip planning and I’m so happy to see your videos on Japan.

  3. You guys continue to rock, great video and editing. I have seen the Tori gate in other vlogs as I am addicted to JPY content however you have covered heaps more in Kagoshima. Looking forward to your next destination.

  4. Thank you so much for your posting!
I'm glad that you have enjoyed Kagoshima trip🚃
I had been to Ibusuki Sand Bath (鹿児島県指宿市の砂蒸し温泉) when I was a university student♨

  5. I live in Kagoshima. The volcano erupting isn't a big deal. Sometimes in summer the winds bring ash into the city after an eruption. Not fun to go through but also not dangerous. For a few years just after 2010 we were having 1,000+ eruptions a year.

I like the setup of Tenmonkan. It's not one long covered street but a few blocks of covered pedestrian access shopping etc. Compact but with a lot of variety.

You didn't see and ardvark. They arent native to Japan.

  6. There is an island named “Shinjima” (moeshima) northeast of Sakurajima. There used to be so many people living there that there used to be a school. I went there twice by boat about 30 years ago.

On Sakurajima, you can see “Sakurajima Radish,” the largest radish in Japan, and “Sakurajima Little Mikan,” a very small tangerine.

  7. When I visited Kagoshima for the first time, I viewed Sakurajima from the same observatory. In several minutes, the volcano actually started eruption with huge white smoke going up!I had heard that it often erupts, but it was only after I saw the eruption that I knew it erupts only once in several months. So, I was lucky.

  8. The three snacks you got used to cost ¥10. Although the price has gone up a little these days. So you didn't profit. You lost nearly ¥70. Otherwise the gaming business get bankrupt. The game is to have fun, not to obtain goods.
