MY SISTER and I visit the Winter Palace (Hermitage Museum), Saint Petersburg, Russia
In this video, my sister (visiting Russia for the first time!) and I explore the Winter Palace, home to the world-renowned Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The Hermitage Museum is one of the largest and oldest museums in the world, boasting a collection of over three million works of art. It’s not just a museum – it’s a symbol of Russia’s rich cultural history. Housed in the Winter Palace, the former residence of Russian emperors, the museum has turned St. Petersburg into a global cultural hub.
Dating back to the 18th century, the Winter Palace was commissioned by Peter the Great as part of his vision to build a grand new capital on the banks of the Neva River. Today, it stands as a magnificent architectural marvel and an iconic historical landmark.
Join us as we take you on a tour of this extraordinary Russian landmark, diving deep into its royal history and stunning artworks.

Cool thing about Hermitage that sometimes they got exhibits from other countrys and they in general-free. I was on british Mesopotamian and Assyrian , it was free and from GB. Fantastic experience. Ofc Hermitage is in "need to viist" list always if u go to Saint-Petersburg.

Как вам Эрмитаж? Как вам дикая немытая Россия?? 🫣🤔сколько медведей встретили по дороге и в самом Эрмитаже?? 😂В Австралии много таких музеев?)
Definitely one place that has always been on my bucket list. Stunning!
I prefer the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoe Selo – the Summer Palace of Catherine II. It is a little less pompous and more cozy. Yes, by the way, rooms and halls in the Summer Palace are still being restored – not everything has been restored yet. The Southern [Zubovsky] wing was recently opened – with a separate excursion (Ekaterina the Second's Personal Space).
Also visit the Northern [Church] wing of the Summer Palace and the Palace Park.
And visit the Synod and Senate Edifices, semicircular ones, framing Palace Square (with a column) on the opposite side of the Hermitage. The Hermitage funds are located there. And, by the way, the New Hermitage is the former residence of Tsarevich Nicholas, the deceased son of Alexander 2. Pity, the New Hermitage has been usurped by the public scientific library, the interiors there were uglified in Soviet times;
Of course, my dream is that the library from there would be evicted to a specialized building, and the New Hermitage would be restored to serve as the chambers of the deceased Tsarevich Nicholas, with the return of his authentic things.
Превосходная съёмка, поздравляю!!!
