Day 03 Cycling France, Bordeaux to Sète via Canal de Garonne & Canal du Midi

Day 3: Le Mas d’Agenais to Agen – Cycling Along the Canal de Garonne

We start the day in the charming village of Le Mas d’Agenais, home to a true hidden gem—an original Rembrandt painting inside the local church. Seeing a masterpiece in such an unexpected setting is a highlight of the journey, adding an extra layer of history and culture to our ride.

From there, we hop back on our bikes and follow the peaceful path alongside the Canal de Garonne. The route takes us through picturesque villages, each with its own character and charm. We stop to watch boats navigate the locks, a fascinating process that brings life to the waterways.

Along the way, we take in the colorful facades of Damazan, a beautifully preserved bastide town, and admire the unique slate bell tower of Sérignac-sur-Garonne. As we approach Agen, we ride over the impressive canal bridge that spans the Garonne River, an engineering marvel that offers fantastic views.

Arriving in Agen, we soak in the sights, sounds, and flavors of southwest France, ready to explore the city and relax after another amazing day on the bike.
