Mary Magdalene, a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, is traditionally believed to have spent her later years in the Provence region of France. According to legend, she sought refuge in the Sainte-Baume cave and was later buried in the Basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume. Today, this basilica houses relics attributed to her, including a skull displayed in a golden reliquary within its crypt.
