Today we’re going to share our list of 15 of the best things to see and do in Southeast Asia. We have visited all of these places during our world travel and have incredible memories for each destination. We have blogs for many of these places, so check the links below for more information on our Retirement Travelers website. We loved our time visiting the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. If you have other great suggestions on where to go in Southeast Asia in 2025, we would love to hear them in the comments or join our Facebook Community Group and share them there. Thanks so much.
Happy Journeys!

I’ve been to half of those countries and can’t wait to go to the other half. Great video thanks
First off, our hearts go out to everyone in Thailand and all those impacted by the earthquake. 🙏❤
Southeast Asia is an amazing part of the world to visit. Let us know your favorite places and why. John and Bev
This is enormously helpful and timely. We're currently researching a trip to SE Asia that would also include Japan. I visited Thailand as a backpack traveler in 1986. Things were very different then – we stayed on the Phi Phi Islands on the beach for about $20/day, which included accommodation, food, and beer.
great suggestions. I've lived in Singapore since 2010 and don't know most of your suggestions. thank you very much!
Thank you for sharing clips from some of your older videos. We spent several days in Singapore and really enjoyed it. The Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are amazing. We also really enjoyed visiting the national museum, which helped us understand what life was like when Japan occupied Singapore during WWII. Safe travels!
We’ve been following you for quite some time now and this has to be one of our favorite videos ! Great job and what an adventure your on . We hope to visit some of these places very soon! We will both be retired and able to travel more within the year 👍 keep inspiring us 🌍 ✈️
Thank you for the video. I'm going to Cambodia in August. I'll base there and explore Southeast Asia for a year or more, so this is very timely for me.
Wow! Many we did not know about. Super video!!! We have added these to our list. Thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing your journey.
Great video !!!!
We are heading to Thailand and Vietnam starting late May…. Where should we go afterwards????
Thanks for another great video Bev and John!
I’ve been to all the countries you mentioned and liked some more than others.
Last summer I visited Brunei which I think is a highly underrated country, it really took me by surprise! The people were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. I rented a car and found it easy to get around as the highways were well maintained and gas as expected is super cheap. Some of the highlights were; Ulu Temburong National Park, Luagan Lalak Forest Recreation Park, driving across the amazingly beautiful Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Bridge, having lunch at The Abode Resort & Spa in Temburong (wished I had stayed there) walking around the Empire Hotel and having lunch there and the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosqu in Bandar Seri Begawan.
Happy Adventures✈️
Trying to decide where I'll start my official retirement next year. Right now, it's between SE Asia and South America. I'll be sure to refer back to this video when I'm making my choice!
I'll be in Raja Ampat in October!!! Can't wait. Thanks for sharing.
Great content. On my bucket list – just hope I can handle the heat😂
Great, timely video for us as we are traveling to SE Asia in the fall! Thanks so much for the tips! 😊
I remember when you posted the water blaster video. 😅
Great video! Looking forward to seeing many of these places now.
SAFE TRAVELS 👍🙏
Love this! I’m going back and rewatching a few!
Excellent video highlghts! And very timely as we are currenly doing SE Asia for the next few month. We had just checked into our hotel – the Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom – and were on the 15th floor when the quake hit! We're OK and so is our building. Everyone was very calm and organized as we waited several hours outside in the shade before getting back in – plus they had water outside. Things were pretty much back to normal that night and everyone is very concerend and shocked at the 30 story building which was under construction and collapsed.
SEA? Land of SCAMS? Gotta be very careful with all these corrupt police. It’s in their DNA and can’t help themselves. One scam or theft can ruin your complete trip! People are great, governments are incredibly bad which is why they are called turd world countries!
Once again, thank you both for a great, insightful video. There is so much of our world that is truly magnificent. SE Asia has many gems.
We've been to many of those places and will return in the fall. Your idea of getting to places early in the morning before the crowds is key. Just be on the lookout for the monkeys at Angkor Wat that emerge from the jungle at sunset! Had a bit of a tug of war with one. Let's just say he was more determined than me. Lol
In 2009 we had a mini-retirement and lived in Indonesia. We rode scooters and lived with a few families during our stays. Now we’re truly retired, it’s time to see more of that magical country.
Amazing recommendations and experiences!! 😄 We really love our travels throughout Southeast Asia and are looking forward to seeing more. Thank you for your video!

This was fabulous❤!
Thinking of traveling to Southeast Asia. Overall, which country do you think is the best starting point and convenient for domestic travel?
Beautiful, Thanks a lot
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing.
