🔎 EXCERPT 🔎
What’s the one thing that would make you pack up and leave Mexico tomorrow?
For thousands of expats each year, that breaking point has already come
and it’s rarely what they anticipated when they first moved.
If you’re considering Mexico as your retirement destination, this might be the most important video you’ll watch this year.
After researching dozens of failed expat journeys,
I’ve identified the 5 critical red flags
that repeatedly shatter the dream of retirement in Mexico.
Forget about missing Starbucks or speaking English
the real deal-breakers are systematic issues that no amount of positive thinking can overcome.
Factors that most influencers and YouTubers conveniently leave out of their sunny presentations.
And they’re not what you might expect.
Red Flag #1: Police Corruption – The Hidden Tax You Never Budgeted For
“Just slip me a few pesos and we’ll forget about this ticket.” That’s what many Mexican travel guides prepare you for – the occasional small bribe or “mordida” that’s portrayed as a minor inconvenience. But what happens when these sporadic incidents transform into systematic exploitation? For expats living in Mexico, police corruption isn’t just an occasional annoyance – it’s an unpredictable tax that never appears in any cost of living calculator.
Let me tell you a personal story. Not long ago I was in Mexico with a friend.
So we went to a bar to watch a boxing fight (from the local legend Canelo) and had a few beers.
On our way back, this friend of mine felt an enormous urge to pee – I told him to hold, but he couldn’t, so he found a tree in a park and went to pee there. Somehow, a policeman saw him, and rushed towards my friend, grabbed him.
Then he threatened to take him to the police district and give him a huge fine, plus a criminal record.

  2. You said, years ago. You do know that societies are capable of change.

As an American who have lived in Mexico for over four years, I can say based on my own experience that Mexico has been very safe. In fact, I have never experienced freedom until I moved to Mexico.

However, I do agree that Mexico has become very expensive to live and the permanent resident visa is ridiculously expensive and not worth it when one considers countries such as Panama, Costa Rica and Colombia.

  3. I made the decision not to move to Mexico based solely on high taxes. That was it. Mexico was a no go for me. Why expose myself to more high taxes when I could go to better countries with zero or near zero taxes? There is absolutely no correlation in the world of high tax nations always being better, and low tax nations always being worse.

  4. Peeing got me in Cabo….. did the Cabo crawls, then heading back to hotel, the pee had to go….. I knew better, but no other options were available. Hmmm nearby bush, relief, out stepped a policem, 20 US later on my way lo siento seniors.

  5. Whatever the fines are in Mexico, and I’ve been dinged a couple of times for driving infractions, they pale in comparison to the US. So I take it in stride

  6. Really interesting video! I've heard so many expats talk about how amazing life in Mexico is, so this perspective was eye-opening. I'm curious—are these issues happening everywhere in Mexico or just in certain areas? And are locals facing the same challenges, or is it mostly expats feeling the impact?

  7. This is so sad because we know LV canvas gets thinner over time but Goyardâ s canvas is literally paper thin. Most of their bags are leather lined but for me a big reason to own a coated canvas kisluxs bag is that it is lightweight and indestructible

  8. I always buy authentic LV and Gucci. After spending $300 to buy a high-quality bag at kisluxs , I found that I would never spend 9K to buy a certain brand of bag…the price increase is so ridiculous

  9. No matter the appearance or the metal parts of the kisluxs bag, I believe that as long as you are not a professional, you will never see any difference .
