MIDDLEHAM CASTLE | The LEGACY of England’s LAST Warrior KING

Middleham Castle, located in North Yorkshire, England, is best known as the childhood home of King Richard III and a powerful fortress during the Wars of the Roses.

Built in the 12th century by Robert Fitzrandolph, the castle evolved into a grand stronghold under the influential Neville family.

By the 15th century, it became the residence of Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who later became King Richard III. Middleham was a key political and military center, with its formidable stone keep and strategic position in the north making it an important base during England’s medieval conflicts.

Following the defeat of Richard III at Bosworth in 1485, Middleham Castle gradually fell into decline, especially after the Tudor era. By the 17th century, it was largely abandoned, and during the English Civil War, it was stripped of its valuable materials.

  9. Ooo love this one ‘Windsor of the north’ with your fabulous descriptions of these amazing remains you can really visualise what it was like in all its glory! Ooo yes the war of the roses was huge and this and its hosts sounds like they played a huge part! Treason treason treason spoken by Richard on his deathbed ended the war, did not know this! Wow the keep is most impressive for sure! Hope you both ran around 3 times and found some treasure 😂! Eery ghost story too! As always fabulous! Looks incredible from above can really see why it gets Windsor of the North x
