If people are into it, check out the Tottori sand dunes. You can take the Super Hakuto train from Osaka.
For kurashiki, I'd also add in a trip the Utagawa Kuniyoshi museum, it's right in the middle of the bikan historical district
Thank you the list! 😊
Love the list but Koyasan at night looks scary.
Super timely video – I have 6 days in Osaka as part of my next trip in a few weeks and already planned Wakayama, Himeji and Kobe. Oh and the Nintendo museum in Kyoto.. Uji sounds good I might have to save that (and Nara etc) for future trips!
Great list. Will be visiting 5 out of 9, but might be tempted to look at 1 of the 2 lesser known.
I wasn't going to hit the like button until I saw that you got my favorite spot (KOYASAN) in the mix.
Good stuff! I'm coming for the Expo this year, so this is great info. I've been to Nara and stayed in Uji before, but Koyasan looks very interesting.
Nara, and the "friendly" deer. Note the quotation mark 😂
Kobe is a highlight for sure. A friend of mine actually did that as a day trip from Osaka. Really great experience
I think a better title for this video is stay in Osaka because Kyoto is to expensive and crowded but yeah when I was there I ended staying almost 3 weeks because of all the day trips and the great deal I got on accommodations. Nagoya is also good place for day trips as well
I will always vote Hiroshima okonomiyaki! The Osaka one is too dense for my taste
Going to Osaka next Friday and staying there for a week before going to Tokyo; thanks for the video!
Thank you that you highlighted Kinosaki, my first Onsen town!
hmmm …. I would stay in Osaka and visit the history museum … it has incredible items including an extremely partial but amazing recreation of the Naniwa Palace … still … Kinosaki Onsen is beautiful,… traditionally you need to worship at the hilltop temple before bathing but people don't do this anymore,… Yosano Akiko stayed here which makes me love it even more …
Very glad to see Omihachiman on the list. It's definitely on of my favourite Osaka/Kyoto day trips. One thing I'd add is starting out early and also visiting Hikone. Ikoma (Nara Prefecture) makes for an excellent underrated day trip as does Yoshino (also Nara Prefecture).
Giving me good ideas for my trip next year. Last year my friend and I went to Kobe and it was awesome. I plan on going back for a whole day. I haven’t really checked out the waterfront area yet at all. I’ve been to Kobe both times I went and it’s been stellar every time.
I'm adding Kobe to my itinerary because of your recommendation
Hiroshima can be visited in a day. I arrived at 0700hr, was in the Peace Park by 0815, went to the museum when it opened. Feeling like I needed to decompress, went to Miyajima, loved it. Then took the train back to Hiroshima station, then the shinkansen to Osaka. Arrived in the evening, slept like a log!
The day trips we have planned from Osaka:
Kyoto
Hiroshima (but probably without Miyajima)
Wakayama -> Kishi (that's where the cat station master is!)
The Expo site also reocmmends Ikedacho on Shikoku. There is a limtied express going from Okayama and crossing the big bridge. But we're not counting on having enough time to fit that one in sadly.
Great video Ninja 😀
Now your talking! This is why I love Osaka, it is such a useful base for some fantastic must see places. The Osaka locals are on another level of entertainment, friendliness and fantastic humour. Can wait to be back there ❤
Miyajima is worth staying the night
I'm sure the deer will thank you for all the senbei you're sending their way, Nathan. haha.
Interestingly I will be heading to Hiroshima after arriving in Japan. And from there climbing my way towards Osaka, Kyoto and part of the locals, Nara, Uji river, and other hidden parts that are off the beaten path. And lastly Tokyo as well as exploring the off beaten path parts. An interesting journey awaiting for me.
Thank you for the video! We visited Koyasan and it was a very special experience, great way to get away from the busy city lights. On the other hand, I feel it's not complete without the overnight temple stay, so I wouldn't recommend only as a day trip.
omg okunoin was already eerie in the daytime 😂
