200 year old German Tourist Attraction that still holds up? The Basteibrücke/Bastei Bridge! Must See

This is part of our summer 2024 Europe Trip. Our trip began in the Netherlands, followed by Germany and Czech Republic, then Germany again, and the back to the Netherlands.

After we crossed the border from Czech Republic (Bohemian Paradise) into Germany we made our way to the Basteibrücke. This destination is located in Saxon Switzerland, which confusingly enough, is located in Germany. The Basteibrücke, or Bastei Bridge, is a limestone bridge built about 200 years ago to provide access to the incredible views along the Elbe river and stunning rock formations. Unlike many other tourist attractions, this one is not a trap and it is super worth it! I highly recommend it!

It is free to enter the bridge but you do need to get there. If you come by car you’re best off parking at the Bastei P&R:
Parkplatz, Basteistraße 2, 01848 Hohnstein, Germany

From here you can walk to the bus stop (Shuttleverkehr zur Bastei):
Parkplatz, Basteistraße 2, 01848 Hohnstein, Germany

From here you can take a short bus ride to the bridge. I don’t remember exactly what parking and the bus tickets cost but I think it was 6 euros for parking and 4 euros for a family bus ticket.
