Shucking Seashells by the Seashore and Salt Marsh in Gruissan, France

🔊🎶🗣️ After the #CanalDuMidi barge trip with @European_Waterways, we all got dropped off at the Narbonne train station where it all began. However, rather than wait a few hours around the station for the TGV back to Paris, @regardingoystersparis and I figured we could easily kill that time shucking seashells by the seashore.

A quick Uber ride took us from Narbonne’s rail station to @LeSalinDeGruissan, a venue by the salt marshes of the Mediterranean, which holds a culinary boutique and an open air restaurant. #Seafood is served unsurprisingly, and for a light lunch over a bottle of white wine, we shucked seashells in the form of half-opened huîtres (#oysters 🦪) and roe-filled tourteau (brown rock #crab 🦀). Putting bits of the latter as garnish on the former was a lovely discovery, on a lovely day with lovely company. — Sitting on the dock of «la mer,» wastin’ time… in #Gruissan (near #Narbonne), #France. 🇫🇷 (This makes two for two times in Narbonne, years apart, of having oysters and wine in the morning. 🦪🥂☀️)
