EZE VILLAGE, France Walking Tour 4K- a charming Medieval hillside town

Hello friends! Today we are in the Cote d’Azur or the French Riviera in the southeastern part of France. We will be visiting the charming medieval village of Eze. Èze was first populated 200 BC and has changed hands over the years including Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Ottomans. April 1860, the area was designated as part of France.

The Village of Eze is perched dramatically on a high cliff above the Mediterranean Sea. Today, it a famous tourism site with two 5 star hotels and Michelin star restaurants. It’s charming narrow cobblestone streets are pedestrian only and great for shopping or just wandering around. Visiting the Jardin Exotique at the top of the village is a must for great views and fantastic garden.

The Fragonard perfumery is also a popular tourist spot just outside the village fortifications. It has a free factory tour and shop. Unfortunately, no pictures were allowed inside, but the tour was interesting and samples of the perfumes were available after the tour.

VISITING TIPS:
– To have a peaceful experience, visit the Village at 9 am and head straight to the Jardin Exotique.
– You can purchase Jardin tickets at freestanding kiosk to avoid the lines at the ticket booth. There are multiple brown kiosks you will see along the way up.
– Bus 83 goes from Nice to Eze or it’s less than €20 Uber from Nice. Both drop off at the bottom of the village and it’s a walk up cobblestone walkways and steps.
– The most budget friendly food option would be to buy picnic fixings from the supermarket called Casino below the village. There are 3 picnic tables behind the Fragonard parking lot in the trees. If you’re lucky, it’ll be empty and you can enjoy lunch with bird song.
