=================================
– Pont d’Altiani is a “river” swimming spot located in Altiani , Costa Serena. The Tavignano river passes under this bridge which is classified as a historic monument. Its architecture is in the Louis XVI style and was carried out by the steward Boucheporn. In order to preserve this heritage and to aid traffic, this bridge is no longer accessible to cars since July 2011 and a new 115 metre bridge was built nearby.
Over several centuries, between the 13th and 17th centuries, numerous stone bridges were built in Corsica. These constructions resulted from the occupation of the island by Pisa and Genoa. They bear witness to the island’s economic reorganization, which encouraged trade. These bridges, known as “Genoese bridges,” are stone buildings characterized by a hump and one or more arches supporting a narrow deck whose width corresponded, according to ancient standards, to the crossing of two pack mules.
The current bridge at Altiani was built at the end of the 17th century to replace a much older Genoese bridge that was swept away in 1697 by a flood of the Tavignano. Four master masons, on the orders of Governor Ambroggio Imperiale, were put in charge of the work in 1698. The building was then widened in 1780 by corbelling the parapets, without modifying its initial architecture, in anticipation of the transport of water. Since then, it has been a real crossing point between the center of Corsica and the sea, or in particular between Corte and Aléria (east coast) via the national road 200. The Genoese bridge at Altiani was classified as a historic monument by decree dated January 14, 1977 .
As it stands today, the bridge has three arches, two lateral arches smaller than the large central arch. The two piers are thus located in the major bed of the Tavignano. Piers and abutments are founded directly on the rock (dark gray schist). The spans are 12 m, 15 m and 9 m respectively. The width of the “beam” is 2.60 m.
Built at a time when only a few carts were in circulation, it now carries relatively heavy road traffic and regularly suffers damage from the heavy goods vehicles that use it, particularly its stone parapets which are regularly hit and damaged.
The Corsican Assembly has decided to build a new two-lane bridge over the Tavignano River, suitable for current road traffic. It has also decided to preserve the old listed Genoese bridge and to develop the site to make it easier for vehicles to stop, thus allowing visitors to visit this historic structure and the nearby listed chapel.
The new bridge is located immediately downstream from the old one. After 18 months of work, it was opened to traffic on July 11, 2011. The Genoese bridge has not been accessible by car since that date.

Such a beautiful nature, shots are fantastic!
I'm watching now💚
Miss Nicole,
first of all, your film offer this peaceful atmosphere just like your personality is all over this place. I enjoy watching paired with your piano classical music. I love the historic arched bridge. How old is it? Sunning structure still stands proudly. Mobile home…rustic and secluded life style??? Are they accommodation? or they are living in this countryside.
It seemed you two had a fabulous journey. Thank you for making my day. Happy Easter.

Fascinating history and such a beautiful spot. Amazing how the Genoese bridges have stood the test of time and still carry so much character. Great to see the effort being made to preserve this one while adapting to modern needs. Definitely looks like a peaceful place for a swim and to take in some history.
