    Mount Takao has it all: stunning views, delicious food, and exciting festivals. Why not spend a day exploring the (semi) wilds of one of Tokyo’s best-loved mountains?

    The 599m-tall mountain — called Takao-san by locals — is easily hikeable and is especially popular with couples, families, and seniors. Though you can actually skip the hiking if you like: Mount Takao has a ropeway that takes you most of the way up. It’s located in Tama at the western edge of Tokyo, about an hour by train from Shinjuku Station.

      What a wonderful day trip to enjoy! Takao san is definitely on my list. Way to go Patricia on braving the cable car ride down for the team! Overall, this looks like a fun adventure to enjoy the scenic view. Thank you for the video!

      I went on a night hike on mt takao last year. Looking over the largest city in the world from a quiet mountaintop is my kind of vibe. I did miss out on the snacks though…

      If you do go at night: bring a headlight.

      Tip: I just went and there was a massive line to buy tickets for the chair lift, but I read the sign and you can pay for the chair lift right before getting on with a Visa card that can tap, so I just skipped the line and went directly to the chair lift, tapped my card ,and got on.

      日本にゴミ箱が無いのは日本人は飲み歩き食べ歩きをしないからです。お祭りの日や特定の場所以外では飲み歩き食べ歩きはマナーの悪い人と見られます。
      購入したものはその場で飲んだり食べたりしてください。その近くにはゴミ箱があるはずです。
      特に神社や寺では注意してください。

      I was there literally 2 weeks ago on a Sunday and spent the night at a cute Bungalow within the area for one night just 500m from the station and had dinner in TakaOne Dining, a cute restaurant across the station — it was a Fun Short getaway from City Center indeed… love it…!!!

      A lot of smog over Tokyo from that viewpoint you looked back at Tokyo from wouldn't have expected it with all the electric trains but perhaps there is a lot of fossil burning cars.
