Cambodia is improving fast, but not there yet for medical. Khmers that can afford it go to T/Land, Vietnam or Singapore for medical. It ranks well for ease of visa and cost of living.
Would you be looking to establish a tax base in one the SE countries, ie spend more than 182 days per year there?
If so, there's "effectively" no tax on foreign income if you're just a private individual making money online, and Cambo hasnt signed up to the common reporting standard. Siem Reap has a new airport with international connections to neighboring countries which is a plus if you want a smaller city as your base. However its relatively hotter in SR than other parts of Cambodia.

I was in Laos 2024 and really don`t think "it`s that far behind" compared to the Philippines. It`s just that it`s rural and there are no big cities.
I live near clark airport and fly out to thailand, then can take bus to the other countries. I slow traveled for a year in SEA. I would stick to agoda hotels looking for $20 a night, last minute booking are usually cheaper. I only book one night, if the hotel sucks I'm out. I'm going to thailand next, ability to have a smoke legally I can't pass up. Don't skip Laos it is one of the few underpopulated SEA countries. I eat at carinderias, rice and curry shop they are called in thailand.
Find people who live there and interview them please
Gio, I am looking forward to your adventure. I spent time in the Philippines and Vietnam. Personally, I prefer Vietnam, but I did like the Philippines as well. I have been in Cambodia for almost the last two years. I’m here because it’s the easiest visa for a retired person. It’s no hassle. Multiple entry for a year and you just renew it every year for less than $300. I am in.Siem Reap . Cambodia is a good location to travel to Vietnam, Thailand, and the rest of Southeast Asia. The people here are very kind in spite of their very difficult history. I am always amazed at the resilience of the Cambodians and their great attitudes. they smile at the drop of a hat. I believe the infrastructure is pretty good in the area that I am at in Cambodia. I will enjoy watching your travels my friend. I wish you the best of luck on your new adventure.

2025 is still a long way away. Nothing wrong with planning ahead but we'll see how it goes. The overweighting of things that made the Philippines a good choice isn't as strong as it use to be. The dollar for value isn't so good in the Philippines compared to other SEA countries. Needing to renew your visa every 2 months sucks. Having to do the exit clearance sucks. The food is better and cheaper in every country. Gio, you shouldn't disregard Laos, it's infrastructure isn't that bad and in many cases better than the Philippines depending where you live in the Philippines.
Will you rent a bike to move around? Get ready the international license

I'm looking forward to your series of travels within southeast Asia. We have seen enough of PH stuff and it's time to visit other beautiful countries and cities in Asia. You are right. there's no need to compare between different countries. Each country always provide something that makes your visit a good experience. Your next series of travels as single guy will provide us a new perspective when it comes to travelling. Take us with you in your journey and we'll experience it by watching your videos.

I've been living mostly in Vietnam and Thailand for the last few years, and after a breakup here in VN I'm planning to go explore a series of new places again. For me, Philippines is actually the #1 country to explore more deeply, along with Malaysia, and potentially Japan and South Korea despite their higher costs—I speak some Japanese and have interest in exploring those countries too.
Travel to underrated countries like Myanmmar and Cambodia, Laos, skip Thailand and their ladyboys 😂

The street laundry girls will steal your underwear. Life experiences go off the charts with slow travel. Agoda deep discounts in the metro areas near large outdoor markets are priority. Collecting digital media and hand made reto fabrics R a favorite and EZ to pack or ship. Alway make count on the undies. The girls just love those designer undies.
